Homebrew Barinoid Species Details

Barinoids are large crocodile like people. They use the ocean, rivers, and other bodies of water as nomadic tribes. They constantly keep growing as long as they keep their stomach full. The largest of this species growing to the size of huge dragons, but with that they are quite old and tend to starve if not fed through the rest of the tribe. Your maw is full of huge teeth that are used to catch both fish and any unlucky creature that is near your mouth drinking from water sources. 

Barinoid Traits

As a Barinoid you have the following traits.

You are a Humanoid.

Size

You are Medium to large 

Speed

Your walking speed is 40 ft., and you have a swimming speed equal to 35 ft.

Bite

You have a fanged maw that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Breathe of the ancients

You can hold your breath for up to 30 minutes at a time, or if holding still for 2 hours. 

Maw of hunger

You can throw yourself into a feeding frenzy. As a bonus action, you can make a special attack with your Bite. If the attack hits, it deals its normal damage, and you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. 

Armor of the ancient crocs

You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren’t wearing armor, your base AC is 16 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.

Nictitating Membrane

A small sense covers your eyes as you submerge in water, giving you blindsight of 30 ft in murky water. 

Darkvision

You have dark vision up to 60 ft above water. 

Death Roll

You grab onto an enemy with your maw and roll till something breaks off or they escape. 

Claws

Your fingers end in claws used to puncture and hold prey. The claws curve and grip bodies easily. Used to subdue and grab prey, often paired with the bite as both grappled the creature making it easier to use the death roll. 

Boon of the tireless

You gain the observant feat as your kind was and is always on guard

Ability Score Strength

Your strength score is automatically 15, unless rolled higher
