Homebrew Dog Species Details
Dogs are faithful four-legged creatures who live by instinct, loyalty, and heart. They are not known for complex speech, careful planning, or scholarly thought, but they understand tone, emotion, danger, and kindness with remarkable clarity. A dog may not grasp politics, religion, or prophecy, yet it knows when someone is afraid, wounded, lonely, or in need of comfort.
Adventuring dogs are rare, but not unheard of. Some are trained war hounds, others are beloved companions, temple guardians, blessed animals, or strange souls touched by divine purpose. They move through the world with a simple honesty that many people lack. They protect their pack, chase what interests them, bark at danger, and bring warmth to places that have forgotten joy.
A dog character cannot speak in the normal sense, but can communicate through barks, posture, expression, movement, and behavior. Their strength lies in loyalty, senses, courage, and the quiet emotional presence they bring to those around them.
