Homebrew Darkoras Species Details
These beings are misunderstood creations of darkness, lovingly nicknamed the Shadow Demons. Most Darkoras are trapped within their own dimension, which overlaps the mortal realm. They are part of a hivemind and can communicate with each other. Darkoras that are somehow not connected to the hivemind are often seen as defective. Defective Darkoras are often either outcast or executed by their peers. The Darkoras’ power in the dark allows them to sneak around and slip dark poisons into others. All Darkoras have a weapon unique to them, made of shadow, that they can summon and imbue with darkness. They do enjoy the presence of Dark Fae and Drow, and will sometimes act almost like pets to them. Nowadays, these beings are being actively hunted, tortured, and killed, being blamed for the horrors that have been occurring at night.
The Darkoras have a few unique traits, including:Shadowbound
Darkoras are shadowbound, allowing them to disappear into and move through shadows.
Hivemind
Darkoras are part of a hivemind, at all times, they can hear and communicate with any other Darkoras. If a Darkoras is not connected to the hivemind, they are considered defective, and are actively cast out and even hunted and executed by the hivemind, depending on how much they go against the will of the hive.
Dark Weapon
All Darkoras have a pact weapon. The Darkoras form their first weapon as a child, and that weapon is bound to them for life. The weapon can only be wielded by the Darkoras who summoned it, and does additional Necrotic damage.
Dark and Light
Being made of shadows, Darkoras can see through the dark they call their home. In parallel, the light is foreign to the Darkoras and causes them to struggle. Darkoras can see well in the dark, but struggle with light. They receive disadvantage on perception checks when in sunlight and a vulnerability to radiant damage. In return, they have darkvision and are resistant to necrotic damage.
