Homebrew All Eyes Species Details

The All Eyes folks have eyes of varying shapes, sizes and colors that dot their bodies. Some of the eyes are capable of seeing in the dark, while others contain a membrane allowing the player to see underwater. Because of their ability to see from many different angles and quality, the All Eyes have proficiency with ranged weapons and a bonus to perception checks.

Some defining characteristics of the All Eyes are their hairless bodies, and their gaping razor sharp maw. Their build is small to medium with thin lanky appendages and spiny toes and fingers. Eyes can be found on their backs, palms, all sides of the head, chest and even the insides of their mouth. These eyes differ in color and shape, not one ever matching another.

They tell stories of their creation to the young All Eyes just before they perform the ritual known as All Shut. These stories are of a lone All Eyes who couldn’t help but spy on a maiden who bathed on a lakeshore. Eventually, the maiden spotted the All Eyes, and shrieked in terror. He was hunted by the normie folks into the deepest parts of the woods. The men grew frightened as night fell, as the All Eyes watched them from his hiding place, some of his eyes flickering, and alight.

Time passed and the All Eyes stumbled upon a wizard's shack that was very booby trapped, but the All Eyes could see the traps from many miles away. Inside were cauldrons, books, and quells. This is where the young All Eyes found the trick of cloning. Upon the wizards return to his cabin there were a hundred All Eyes hanging from the roof, out the windows, sliding under the furniture and thrashing about the wizards shack. The wizard bested many of the All Eyes, but those who escaped returned to the thickets and brambles.

Today the All Eyes mingle in the darkened corners of the taverns and back alleys. They’re hesitant to trust, and quick to see deception. They’ve become quite skilled with ranged weapons, and use their eyes to give them the upper hand against their adversaries. They can also do the trick of cloning when they fear they’ve been bested, resulting in a brand new All Eyes springing up to take their place.

Many More Eyes

At 7th level upon becoming bloodied a duplicate of the All Eyes is spawned.

The duplicate has the same abilities, spells, and features as the original, but shared resources are used; for example, if the duplicate casts a spell, the caster also expends the corresponding spell slot. The duplicate dies at 0 hit points, ending the spell. If the caster dies while the duplicate is active, the caster’s soul transfers to the duplicate, which becomes the new form, ending the spell. Only one duplicate can be active at a time, and it cannot cast the Duplicate spell itself. This can be regained after a long rest.
