Homebrew Bitling - NeOy Species Details
Bitlings are native to Arcadia, a digital, transdimensional realm filled with video game collectibles, respawning mobs, and boundless whimsy.
They are made from a fusion of matter, magic, and imagination — because they are born from whimsy rather than strict biology, there is no unified appearance; they are wildly diverse animal-folk (resembling animals like chipmunks, raccoons, pugs, mice, frogs, or roosters) with a stylized or cartoonish flair.
Bitlings naturally possess exactly four fingers on each hand.
Soaring
Soaring Bitlings are light, buoyant, and built like the flying mounts and airborne mobs of Arcadia — feathered, winged, or simply defiant of gravity. They dart and hover through the air with the same weightless ease as a game character gliding past a bottomless pit.
Strong
Strong Bitlings are the tanks and heavy-hitters of Arcadia — stocky, sturdy builds modeled after the bruisers and pack-mules of the digital realm, equally at home scaling a cliff face as they are shoving a foe off one.
Swift
Swift Bitlings are streamlined and aerodynamic, built for speed the way a game's fastest-unlockable character is — all momentum, no wasted movement, built to outrun anything that gets in their way.
Bitling Traits
Creature Type: Fey
Size: Medium (about 5–6 feet tall) or Small (about 2–4 feet tall)
Speed: 30 feet
Four Fingers
You have exactly four fingers on each hand.
Token Economy
You gain 1 Token upon completing a Long Rest. Whenever an enemy within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 Hit Points, a Token spawns in their space. Dropped Tokens remain in an enemy's space for 1 minute, and you must physically move into that space to collect them. You can hold a maximum of 4 Tokens at any time.
Digital Archetype
When you create a Bitling, you select one of three lineages that dictate your primary physical capability.
Collectible Drop Boost
When you fail any d20 test (ability check, attack roll, or saving throw), you can expend a Token to roll an additional 1d4 and add it to the total, potentially turning the failure into a success.
Respawn
When you drop to 0 Hit Points, you can expend 1 Token to drop to 1 Hit Point instead. You can only use this feature once per Long Rest.
Checkpoint
As a Magic Action, you can expend 1 Token to create a shimmering checkpoint mark on a surface you touch. While on the same plane, you can use a Magic Action to teleport to that checkpoint. By expending an additional Token when you teleport, you can bring one willing creature you are touching with you.
