Primordial Fiend

Unlike modern devils, demons, or yugoloths, the Aethern do not serve infernal hierarchies by nature. They are ancient beings forged during the earliest moments of planar creation, when the boundaries between order and chaos had yet to settle. Their immense lifespans allow them to witness civilizations rise and fall as fleeting moments in history.

Most Aethern eventually devote themselves to a singular ideal—such as Oath, Hunger, War, Silence, Memory, Judgment, or Decay. As their devotion deepens, their physical forms evolve to reflect that ideal.

Many infernal myths claim that the first devils were inspired by the Aethern, though no surviving Primordial Fiend has ever confirmed or denied the tale.

Every Aethern is shaped by the ideal it embraces. While all Primordial Fiends possess immense longevity and supernatural resilience, no two mature Aethern develop the same gifts. Their chosen ideal transforms both body and soul, granting unique abilities that reflect the purpose they have sworn to uphold.
