Homebrew Aegisframe Species Details
No one remembers who first forged the Aegisframes. Some believe they were created by forgotten gods to defend civilization, while others claim they are the last remnants of an empire whose greatest warriors willingly surrendered their mortal forms. Whatever their origin, every Aegisframe possesses a soul of its own. Their massive armored bodies are not prisons but vessels, animated by ancient spirits that have watched kingdoms rise and fall over countless generations.
Unlike ordinary constructs, an Aegisframe is neither mindless nor mechanical in thought. They speak, dream, and form friendships as any mortal would. Hidden within their reinforced chassis lies a sacred chamber, large enough to house a willing Medium creature. When another enters this chamber, the two become perfectly synchronized, allowing the pilot to guide the Aegisframe's immense strength while the construct lends its resilience and ancient power. This union is built on trust, as both souls remain present and must work together to achieve their full potential.
Many Aegisframes spend decades searching for companions worthy of sharing their burden. Some become steadfast guardians to a single individual, while others travel the world seeking those whose ideals align with their own. Though they are formidable warriors even when fighting alone, their greatest legends tell of battles won through the unbreakable bond between construct and companion, where two souls moved as one against impossible odds.
Aegisframe Traits
Aegis TraitsConstruct
You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe.
Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 6 hours. While in this state, you remain aware of your surroundings and gain the same benefits that a humanoid gains from a Long Rest.
You are immune to the following conditions/damage types: disease, poison, poisoned, psychic Blinded, Paralysis through non-magical means, charmed through non-magical means, and Stunning through non-magical means
You are resistant to bludgeoning damage
You are vulnerable to Thunder, Lightning and acid damage types.
Pilot Chamber
Your hollow chassis contains a reinforced chamber designed to house a willing companion.
As an action, one willing Medium creature within 5 feet of you may enter your chassis, provided your chamber is unoccupied.
While a creature is housed within your chassis:
- The housed creature occupies your space and moves with you.
- The housed creature has Total Cover against effects originating from outside your chassis.
- The housed creature can communicate with you normally.
- The housed creature can exit your chassis as a Bonus Action, appearing in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you.
- You are considered Piloted.
Piloted
While Piloted, the following rules apply:
The pilot occupies the Aegisframe's space and moves whenever the Dreadnought moves. The pilot cannot willingly leave the Aegisframe's space except by exiting the Pilot Chamber using a bonus action. The pilot cannot use its flying, climbing or burrowing speed while in the Aegisframe.
The pilot has Total Cover against effects originating outside the Dreadnought, unless an effect specifically states it can affect creatures inside another creature or object.
The Aegisframe and the pilot each retain their own initiative, turns, actions, bonus actions, and reactions. Neither creature gains additional actions as a result of being Piloted.
The pilot's movement is equivalent to that of the Aegisframe's. The pilot can use it's movement to move the Aegisframe. If the pilot is forcibly moved, it is immediately ejected from the Pilot Chamber into the nearest unoccupied space.
The pilot can cast spells, activate magic items, speak, and use class features while inside the Pilot Chamber, provided the feature or spell doesn't require the pilot to physically leave the chamber or occupy another space. The point of origin for any spell or feature used by the pilot is the Dreadnought's space unless otherwise specified.
Whenever the pilot takes the Attack, Magic, or Utilize action, it may replace that action with a Aegisframe Action granted by the Aegisframe's species traits, feats, or other features.
The Dreadnought and its pilot are in constant communication and always understand one another while Piloted, regardless of language.
If the Dreadnought becomes incapacitated, is reduced to 0 hit points, or willingly ejects its pilot (no action required), the pilot immediately appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the Dreadnought.

Once integrated, the armor functions exactly as normal until it is removed
Aegisframe Protocols

- Your next melee weapon attack deals an additional 1d6 force damage.

Siege Protocol
Make one melee weapon attack. On a hit, the attack deals an additional 1d8 force damage, and the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone.
Command Uplink
Choose one ally within 30 feet. That ally can immediately use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks or make one weapon attack.
