Homebrew Demigod Species Details

Demigods are mortals touched by true divinity, their souls carrying a fragment of something greater than the mortal world.Their divine heritage manifests differently in every Demigod, sometimes reflecting the nature of their divine parent and sometimes taking forms that even the gods themselves cannot predict. Though their power is often dormant, the divine within them sets them apart from ordinary mortals. Some claim the first Demigod was born beneath a sky filled with stars that had never before been seen. The child was said to have opened their eyes moments after birth and spoken words in a language no mortal had ever heard. The story claims that the god who sired the child never revealed their identity, leaving only a strange symbol upon the newborn's skin.

Demigods resemble their mortal parent, though their divine heritage leaves unmistakable marks upon them. Their eyes are either golden or contain multiple colors that blend and swirl together in patterns reminiscent of a cosmic sky. Their blood may be gold, silver, black, or luminescent, and every Demigod bears a unique pattern upon their body alongside a symbol reflecting the nature of their divine heritage. They are also born with an innate knowledge of an otherwise unknown language, able to speak and write it without being taught. Demigods are extraordinarily rare. They mature at the same rate as their mortal ancestry and can live for up to 200 years, though their bodies eventually settle into the appearance of someone in their mid-twenties, tho in extraordinarily rare circumstances, a Demigod may cease to age and become effectively ageless.

The exact nature of this manifestation varies from Demigod to Demigod, shaped by the divine essence you inherited.

Divine Soul

Your soul carries a fragment of divine essence, granting it a resilience beyond that of ordinary mortals. You have advantage against being Charmed or Frightened and you have resistance against Psychic and Radiant damage.

Divine Manifestation

Though much of your divine power remains dormant, you can draw upon a portion of it and give it form. How this power manifests varies between Demigods, reflecting the unpredictable nature of divine inheritance. Choose one manifestation of your divinity from the options available to you.

Divine Tongue

Every Demigod is born with an innate knowledge of a language unknown to mortals. Every Demigod can speak and write it instinctively, despite having never been taught.

Divine Resurgence

When you are pushed to the brink, the divine power within your soul surges forth instinctively. This sudden awakening protects you from further harm and punishes those who would bring you low.

One per long rest when you are reduced to half your Hit Point maximum or fewer by an attack from a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to awaken your divine power. You regain 2d8 + your proficiency bonus Hit Points, and the attacking creature is Dazed until the end of your next turn.

Divine Wings

Your dormant divinity manifests through your physical form, causing a pair of wings to emerge from your body. The appearance of these wings varies between Demigods, reflecting the nature of their divine heritage. Once per long rest as a Bonus Action, you can sprout wings for one hour, gaining a Fly Speed equal to your Walk Speed while they are present.
