Homebrew Dar'ganesh Species Details

Deep in the plains of "Harkgon" lies a race of what seems to be demons, though in truth this race are a type of devil, and would slay anyone who calls them a demon, and what is this race known as, well they are simply known as The Dar'ganesh.

DEVILISH LOOKS

The Dar'ganesh are a strange set of beings with obsidian black skin, 3 inch claws on both their hands and feet, yellow eyes, pointed ears, bone like armor, no hair, and two various types of horns. The Dar'ganesh's claws carry a poison that overtime turns the afflicted into another Dar'ganesh, in fact this is one of the ways they reproduce. The Dar'ganesh operate in a feudalistic caste based system, with magic users or priests at the top, warriors under the priests, craftsmen under the warriors, peasants under the craftsmen, and finally under every Dar'ganesh is The Hornless, or slaves. Dar'ganesh dress is various types of clothing, although the majority barring the Warriors, dress in clothing that prioritizes speed.

GLORY TO GRO'VENOK

The Dar'ganesh worship a god only known as "Gro'venok" who they believe will usher in an age of darkness and place the Dar'ganesh as the rightful rulers of reality. The reason the Dar'ganesh worship Gro'venok is because according to legends passed down from the Dar'ganesh, the race was one of pure decadence, so excessive where their acts that the demon lord of the abyss Graz'zt almost claimed the souls of the Dar'ganesh as his forever.

RELATIONS WITH OTHER EVIL ALIGNMENTS

Typically Lawful Evil, Dar'ganesh abhor those of the Chaotic Evil Alignment, hunting them down vigorously, while tolerating those of the Neutral Evil Alignment, though not much respect is given to those of said alignment. Now those who have been turned into a Dar'ganesh keep their original alignment, only becoming Lawful Evil after meeting Gro'venok

GOING OUT INTO THE MATERIAL PLANE

The Dar'ganesh will periodically go out into the material plane via portals made by their priests to raid and spread the word of Gro'venok, however sometimes these raiding parties will have to leave a member behind on the material plane. Now normally a Dar'ganesh would try to find their way back to Harkgon, however due to possibly greed or glory, or perhaps having motives to not yet meet Gro'venok, a Dar'ganesh will stay on the material plane, selling themselves off as mercenaries or becoming adventures; however this comes at a cost, as the Dar'ganesh back on Harkgon will consider these individuals "Renegades" and will have them exiled if they ever return.

Dar'ganesh Traits

A Magical Piercing Gaze That Both Frightens And Removes Spells

Piercing Gaze

Piercing Gaze does 2D10 magical damage base. The creature being targeted must make a Wisdom Saving Throw with a DC of 10, on a success the creature only takes 2D10 magical damage; on a failure the creature gains the frightened condition, and if the creature is capable of casting spells, then after rolling 1D10, remove a spell slot based on the number rolled, a 1 for a level one spell slot, a 2 for a level two spell slot, etc.

These two effects last as long as the Dar'ganesh who inflicted these effects is alive. However if the affected creature is a spell caster and doesn't have a spell slot corresponding with whatever is rolled, then the next highest spell slot is removed.
