Homebrew ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’€ Reborn Dragonborn Species Details

Of course โ€” the long description should describe the Reborn Dragonborn race generally, without any Kelissie-specific information.

๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’€ Reborn Dragonborn โ€” Long Description

Reborn Dragonborn are beings who once lived, died, and somehow returned to walk the world again. Whatever force restored them to life did not return them unchanged. They still carry the imposing form and draconic heritage of their original race, but death has permanently marked both their bodies and souls.

Their appearance can vary dramatically. Some have cracked or faded scales, old wounds that never fully healed, or unusual markings connected to their death. Others appear almost as they did in life, except for subtle signs โ€” unnaturally cold skin, strangely coloured eyes, an absent heartbeat, or an unsettling stillness when they aren't moving.

Death has also affected their memories. A Reborn Dragonborn may remember their previous life clearly, while another might possess only scattered fragments. Forgotten memories can unexpectedly surface when they encounter familiar places, objects, creatures, sounds, or sensations. Sometimes these memories provide useful knowledge. Other times, they raise even more questions about who they once were.

Despite having crossed the boundary of death, their draconic ancestry remains within them. They retain the ability to unleash an elemental breath weapon associated with their heritage, although it may manifest differently after their resurrection โ€” appearing ghostly, unnatural, or touched by the strange energy that returned them to life.

Their bodies no longer function entirely like those of ordinary living creatures. They require fewer mortal necessities, can remain conscious while resting, and possess an unusual resilience against effects that normally threaten the living.

No two Reborn Dragonborn return for the same reason. Some were resurrected deliberately, others awakened through ancient magic, curses, experiments, divine intervention, or forces they may never understand.

For many, their second life becomes a search for one simple answer:

Why did death give them back?
