Homebrew Canid Species Details
The First Hound of the Horn
Avalonian legend says the Canids were born when Elaine of the Horn, the first Huntmistress, blew her mythic horn to call allies against the primordial Blight. From the echoing note stepped a great spectral hound, shaped from courage itself.
When the battle ended, Elaine offered the hound a choice:
-
Return to the spirit wilds, or
-
Take mortal form and walk beside Avalon’s people.
The hound chose mortality.
From this oath came the First Pack, ancestors of the modern Canids.
This is why Canids instinctively:
-
Bow their heads when horns sound
-
Treat oaths as sacred
-
Feel blight as a “wrongness” in the land
-
Form chosen‑family packs with fierce devotion
