Homebrew Displacer Beast Tabaxi Species Details

 

The dark descendance of Tabaxi from deep in the Feywild, mainly kept and seen as warriors and security. This variety of Tabaxi was generally kept and seen as strong and loyal candidates to those higher up in society within the Feywild. Easily compared to the basic displacer beast, before they were kept and used as guards for the Unseelie Court. Their strong physique and intelligence was easily used and manipulated by the court until they found different, better factions. They were cast unto the Material Plains to wander and find a new purpose for their skills.

The Displacer Beast Tabaxi  are humanoid and are generally medium in size, varying from 5 to 7 feet tall. Their bodies are slick and muscular, distinctly known for their four arms, and two tentacles that are found connected to their shoulder blades. Displacer Beast Tabaxi are found in many darker shades mainly black, dark gray, a deep blue, etc. They can have varying patterns to their fur as well though it isn't as noticeable. 

For weapons this variety of Tabaxi tend to prefer using their tentacles to strike if not their claws. They can  generally be seen using simple weapons as well if they find it necessary. 

Like all Tabaxi they originally came from lines originating from those of the Cat Lord, though their unique genetics seem to be much different from the everyday Tabaxi that is commonly seen within the Material Plains.

Displacer Beast Tabaxi Traits

The agile Tabaxi brought from the Feywild are known to have the following traits

Ability Score Increase

• When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.

Cats Claws

• You can use your claws to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your DEX modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Cat's Talent

• You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.

 

Darkvision

• You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.

Size

• You are Medium sized.

Speed

• Your walking speed is 35 ft, and you have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

Avoidance

• If the displacer beast tabaxi is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.

Displacement

• As a bonus action the displacer beast tabaxi can project a magical illusion that makes it appear to be standing near its actual location, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn. This trait is also disrupted while the displacer beast is incapacitated or has a speed of 0.

Many Arms

• Displacer Beast Tabaxi are known for the two sets of arms (four arms total). With this unique trait they are able to hold multiple simple weapons at a time (2 simple weapons & one shield, 1 simple weapon per hand, etc), hold up to four small items or two large items.

Dark Appearance

• When you are making a Stealth Check, if you are in dim lighting or total darkness you gain advantage on all Stealth rolls until you are discovered or if the area gains full lighting.

Multiattack

• The displacer beast tabaxi is able to make two attacks with its tentacles.

Tentacle

• You are proficient with these tentacles, which you can use to make melee weapon attacks. add your proficiency bonus & your DEX modifier to hit, reach 10 ft. you can hit one target at a time with your tentacles. Hit: 1d6+4 bludgeoning damage plus 1d6 piercing damage.
• You are able to to grapple a target within 10 ft. of you. The target must make an athletics or acrobatics check against being grappled. (DC; 10 plus STR modifier plus Proficiency)

Age

• The Displacer Beast Tabaxi can live to be 100 to 250 years of age.
