Homebrew Deurna Species Details

Towering over most folk, and often mistaken for horrific beasts until they speak, Deurna are distant descendants of a tribe of giants who were driven into the feywild by the ever-encroaching advance of civilization, one of their shamans striking a deal with minor feywild baron, offering their tribe's servitude in exchange for a safe home. A deal they would soon come to regret, their people's new collective patron proving a fickle, capricious sort. As with most fey. Not much is known about what transpired in the generations to come, but what is known is their descendants now roam the lands, their modern forms warped and innumerably varied due to prolonged exposure to the unpredictable magics of the feywild. Often favoring more bestial traits and configurations of the body, with capricious mannerisms not so dissimilar to their ancient fey masters.

Deurna are quite unpredictable, and have physical characteristics that are a rough hodge-podge reminiscent of traits from various different beasts, both magical and mundane, no two Deurna are alike unless magically transfigured before birth (in the case of a parent wanting twins) But they can inherit traits from their parents, with a propensity for more magical aspects. They wander freely, often in traveling bands selling their services in exchange for livestock, provisions, and coin. Despite their gargantuan stature and often monstrous appearance. They are often regarded as rather gracious hosts, and surprisingly pleasant guests when caught in a good mood.. provided your larder doesn't run empty, of course.

Fae-Warped Ancestry

Your deep ties to the land of the ever-changing realm of the feywild has left it's mark on your people, choose one of the following benefits—a chaotic supernatural boon; you can use the chosen benefit a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest:

Wild Ichor - Your very blood is a source of potent, unpredictable magics. Spill it and call forth it's power! Spend an action and deal 1d4 (add an extra roll for every level) to yourself to roll a d100 for an effect from the wild magic surge table, with advantage. Take an extra flat 1d4 for every subsequent use of this ability in the same encounter.

Twisting Shape - Stability of form is so dull, and it seems the tides of fate agreed in your case. Your body is unpredictable, malleable, and subject to various arcane stimuli. Roll a d20 and be blessed with a variety of effects for two turns, with a cooldown period of one turn. (2-5 Grow or lengthen your pre-existing fangs to monstrous proportions temporarily, adding a bonus action bite in close-quarters (adjacent) that inflicts 1d4 bleed, if you have your opponent or target otherwise grappled. You may use these fangs to do a dedicated attack for 1d6 damage in addition to inflicting 1d4 bleed. As your newfound razor-sharp teeth practically force your jaws wide open and make tongue-movement risky, Speech is difficult while under this effect, making vocal spells practically impossible and adding an unpleasant clenched teeth edge to your words.) (6-10 Sprout a series of thick scutes across your body, making movement difficult and possibly forcing gear off of your body. Setting your base armor class to 13+ your constitution temporarily.) (11-15 Enlarge an extremity of your choice, (arms, legs, tail, etc). The enlarged limb temporarily becomes an improvised weapon, dealing 1d4 bludgeoning + your strength modifier. If your arms are enlarged, your ability to manipulate objects in the environment becomes counted as being a size tier larger.)(16-19 grow large, spade-like claws, improving your ability to dig by 10 feet, enabling you to move underground at your base movement speed of 20)(special cases, 1- critical failure, shapeshift into a random tiny-tier beast for two turns, maybe decided by DM) (20, shapeshift into a random giant tier beast, probably decided by DM)

Wild Kin - Your time in the magical forests of the feywild has rubbed off on you, a magical beast is spiritually bound to your side. And may be summoned whenever you wish, following standard DnD familiar rules.

Powerful Build

You have Advantage on any ability check you make to end the Grappled condition. You also count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity.
