Homebrew Cockatrice Species Details

The cockatice is the combination of a rooster and a basilisk. Visually, it is a larger rooster that can fly, has dragon and rooster-like wings, and a dragon-like tail. The cockatrice stands around 1 ft tall and 3 ft long. This version of the cockatrice is playable by a person in a campaign and may be used as a character. 

Cockatrice Traits

A cockatrice can bite, claw, use flyby, and at higher levels use petrifying bite

Darkvision

Character can see 60ft in dimly or darkly-lit rooms

Talon

Talon does 3 (1d4 + 2) Slashing damage on a hit. It costs an action and can count as an extra attack if a class and level allows it

Bite

Bite takes 6 (2d6) piercing damage from a creature. Bite costs and action and if a class has an extra attack, they can use this.

Flyby

The cockatrice doesn't provoke an Oppotunity Attack if they are flying and use the "talons" attack when it flies out of an enemy's reach.
