Homebrew Cybertronian Species Details
Cybertronians are sentient mechanical beings originating from a distant planet, possessing advanced technology and the extraordinary ability to reshape their bodies. Unlike ordinary machines, they are living entities with independent thoughts, emotions, personalities, and unique identities. Their bodies consist of highly advanced mechanical components that function as both their physical form and their means of survival.
One of the defining abilities of a Cybertronian is Technological Scanning, which allows them to analyze and replicate the physical forms of technology they encounter. By observing and scanning a vehicle, machine, weapon, or other technological object, a Cybertronian can record its structure and incorporate its design into their transformation database. Once scanned, the recorded form can be used as an alternate configuration, allowing them to adapt to unfamiliar environments and situations.
Through their transformation abilities, Cybertronians can shift between their original robotic forms and various technological configurations. These forms may include cars, motorcycles, aircraft, machinery, and even ordinary objects, provided their structures can be replicated and their dimensions are compatible with the Cybertronian's body. However, scanning an object's appearance does not automatically grant every function or capability of the original technology. Advanced functions may require additional modifications, specialized components, or sufficient understanding of the scanned design.
Despite their mechanical nature, Cybertronians possess individual personalities, memories, and the capacity to form meaningful relationships with other creatures. Their methods of communication may include spoken language, mechanical sounds, and electronic signals. Some Cybertronians communicate fluently with other species, while others may rely on limited phrases, gestures, or unconventional forms of expression.
As extraterrestrial beings, Cybertronians often find themselves in worlds vastly different from their home planet. Their ability to study and replicate technology allows them to adapt to these unfamiliar civilizations, although magical phenomena and technologies beyond their understanding may present challenges. Each Cybertronian develops their own identity, preferred transformation forms, and approach to interacting with the universe.
To a Cybertronian, transformation is more than a change of appearance. It is an expression of adaptability, individuality, and the remarkable potential of living technology.
Cybertronian Traits
Cybertronians possess advanced mechanical bodies, allowing them to adapt to their surroundings through technological scanning and transformation. Their unique traits reflect their extraterrestrial origins, mechanical resilience, and ability to replicate the forms of technology they encounter.Mechanical Physiology
Your body is composed of advanced mechanical components, living metal, and alien technology rather than ordinary biological tissue. You are a Construct instead of a Humanoid. You don't need to eat, drink, or breathe. However, you still require rest to recover your strength and maintain your systems. You can benefit from healing magic if that magic can restore Constructs, at the DM's discretion. You otherwise follow the normal rules for your creature type and character.
Technological Scanning
You can scan technological objects to analyze their physical structure and record their designs within your internal transformation database. To scan an object, you must be able to see it clearly and remain within 30 feet of it for 1 uninterrupted minute. When the scan is complete, you record its general shape, structure, dimensions, and external configuration. You can later use a recorded design to transform into that object, subject to your size and structural limitations. Scanning an object does not automatically grant its magical properties, special abilities, or full operational capabilities. You cannot scan living creatures or purely magical phenomena. Your DM determines whether an object qualifies as technology and whether its design can be replicated
Adaptive Transformation
You can use a Bonus Action to transform from your robotic form into a technological form recorded in your Technological Scanning database, or revert to your robotic form.
Your alternate form replicates the general appearance and physical structure of the scanned object, subject to your size and mechanical limitations. You cannot assume a form that is incompatible with your body or exceeds the size limits established for your species.
While transformed, you retain your mental ability scores, personality, memories, and other features that your new form can reasonably support. You cannot use equipment or perform actions that require limbs or mechanisms unavailable in your current form.
Transforming does not automatically grant the original object's movement modes, attacks, damage, magical properties, or special functions. These capabilities must be explicitly permitted by another trait or approved by your DM.
Mechanical Resilience
Your body is composed of advanced mechanical components rather than ordinary biological tissue, making you less susceptible to certain biological threats. You have Advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the Poisoned condition.
This trait does not grant resistance to Poison damage or immunity to the Poisoned condition. You remain susceptible to other harmful effects unless another feature states otherwise.
