Homebrew Crocodilian Species Details
Congratulations, crawler. You are now a Crocodilian: a heavily armored ambush predator with the patience of a swamp, the bite force of a hydraulic press, and an appearance that strongly suggests you should not be trusted near small boats.
Your Swimmer trait grants a 30-foot swim speed, and you can hold your breath for 15 minutes. That is enough time to cross flooded corridors, evade aquatic horrors, or wait motionless beneath the surface while someone makes the regrettable decision to investigate the ripples.
Your Thick Hide provides a base Armor Class of 13 + your Dexterity modifier while you are not wearing armor. Shields apply normally. This means your natural defenses remain respectable even when your equipment has been melted, stolen, or accidentally wagered in a tavern-based murder contest.
Your Bite is a natural strike dealing 1d6 + your Strength modifier Piercing damage. Conveniently, it is attached to your face, where you are unlikely to misplace it.
And then there is Feeding Surge. After you hit a hostile creature with your bite, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You may do this once per Short or Long Rest. Bite an enemy. Feel better. Try not to make it weird.
A necessary clarification: eating something does not multiply unrelated magical benefits. Consuming a fire mage will not make your spells hotter. Eating a rogue will not make you stealthier. Eating a healer will not improve your bedside manner.
You are durable. You are amphibious. You are equipped with a mouth that solves problems permanently.
Now get in the water. Something down there has been waiting for you.
