Homebrew Dog Soldier Species Details

Congratulations, crawler. You are now a Dog Soldier: a disciplined pack-fighter with sharp senses, sharper loyalty, and an almost medically concerning commitment to the people you have decided are your people.

Your Tracker trait grants proficiency in Survival. Footprints, broken branches, dropped gear, trails of blood, and the unmistakable smell of someone who has been pretending not to panic—you can follow all of it.

Your Keen Nose gives you advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell. You can locate enemies behind doors, identify danger on the wind, and determine exactly which teammate has been hoarding the dried meat. This is not an invitation to sniff every chest. Some mimics are surprisingly sensitive about personal space.

With Pack Warning, when an ally within 30 feet who can hear you rolls initiative, you may use your reaction to add 1d4 to their roll. You can do this a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus. A bark, a growl, a shouted warning, or one extremely urgent “MOVE!” can turn an ambush into a fair fight.

Almost fair.

Finally, Loyal Heart grants advantage on saving throws against the Frightened condition. The dungeon may hiss. It may roar. It may show you impossible things in the dark.

But your pack is still standing behind you.

And that means you stand, too.
