Homebrew Igneous Species Details
Well, look at that. Someone decided that flesh, blood, and basic biological vulnerability were entirely overrated and opted to become a walking piece of tectonic violence instead.
The Igneous race is forged from hardened volcanic basalt, cooled magma crust, and a burning inner core that constantly reminds everyone around you that personal space is a survival strategy.
Here is what your new volcanic physiology brings to the table:
- Molten Core: You gain Resistance to Fire damage. Molten slag, flaming arrows, explosive traps, and bad culinary choices will slide right off you. You are, quite literally, forged in heat. Room temperature, on the other hand, feels like an insult.
- Stone Frame: When not wearing armor, your base Armor Class is 12 + your Constitution modifier. Shields apply normally. Who needs tailored chainmail when your skin is literally cooled volcanic bedrock? It turns out being dense, stubborn, and mostly mineral makes you remarkably hard to pierce.
- Lava Spurt: As an action, you can unleash a searing 15-foot cone of pressurized subterranean fury. Every creature caught in the blast must make a Dexterity saving throw against DC 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier.
- On a failure, they take 1d10 Fire damage (half on a success).
- As you grow more dangerously unstable, this blast scales to 2d10 at level 5, 3d10 at level 11, and a catastrophic 4d10 at level 17.
- You can vent this internal pressure a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus per long rest. Try to aim away from flammable party members, unless they really had it coming.
- Thermodynamic Courtesy Clause: Heat radiating from your body does not passively damage allies or equipment. Your sleeping bag will not spontaneously combust, your leather satchels will not shrivel into ash, and giving your teammates a high-five will not require third-degree burn treatment. The System appreciates a tidy adventuring party and refuses to process insurance claims for scorched upholstery.
You are heavy. You are armored in stone. You can vomit liquid rock on command.
Try not to sink into any deep carpets.
