Homebrew Veela Species Details

Madame Butterfly

Tales have been told for decades about beautiful women with the power to warp a man’s mind and bring them to their doom. The Taina are no different; some say that they first came about to be the fae queen’s own personal bodyguards. The Taina however managed to win their freedom from the queens to be their own free agents. They were fierce magical fighters, incredible conwomen, and stunning beauties that few could compare to. For the last five hundred years or so, these beings began to work their way into the mortal realm.

But what is a life without a legacy, many think? Alas the Taina couldn’t birth true heirs to their power. However, they eventually discovered that they could produce offspring with humans. And so, they would find the most charming, or most magically potent men, con them into a night of whirlwind romance, and leave a surprise for them nine months later.

Their daughters were called the Veela. Completely human on a first inspection, but with a closer look you can notice the otherworldly aspects to their nature. Eyes as gold as the sun. Hair like flowing gold, shining ebony, or burning fire. A pale skin regardless of ethnicity. Magical talent in their bones. An aversion to iron. And of course, their mother’s haunting, ever lyrical voices.

But they also received something incredibly important from their fathers; their own freewill. They have the capability to resist the call of the fae to return home, or to con and murder their paramours. They have the ability to choose their own destiny. Even so, chaos races through their blood. Veela tend to go by names similar to that of the cultures they were raised in, though occasionally they are named something in Sylvan.
