Homebrew Dark Supplicant Species Details

A Dark Supplicant: A wandering spirit, vicious and hungry, which stalks its prey in an unwavering gait. They were once servants and honorable people, but through deals with evil entities or outcomes of circumstance, their soul is left behind when their body breaks down. The soul morphs and wails, becoming a solid form once more. They usually have grey skin, ranging from white to a near abyssal black. Smoke-like hair hangs about their heads, covering red eyes and exposed jaws full of sharp fangs. Each digit on their hands and feet ends with a short black claw. What muscle they have is solid and taut. Often times, ribs and other bones are visible through the near translucent skin. You won't find a Supplicant who knows how to use more than a simple weapon, as they have been reduced to creatures relying on cruel instinct. Faster than the average creature, the Supplicants have been found to be incredibly adaptable. They can range in strength and intelligence, as well as speed. As the name implies, a Dark Supplicant begs and asks for certain things. In the case of these poor individuals, they seek a master. One who can control them, while keeping them fed and with blood on their claws. They tend to be Chaotic Evil by nature, but alter their alignment when finding a worthy master. They have crude understanding of common language,  and have lost all capability of writing, but as they progress in their endeavors, it is possible that they can learn new skills or recover old ones from when they were still human. The one thing that is eternally lost to them is their name, abandoned with their corpse. As a brutal tradition, somehow known to all Supplicants, they name themselves from a piece of their old anatomy. A few examples might be: Spine, Knuckle, Lungs, etc.

Dark Supplicant Traits

+1 Constitution & Dexterity / -1 Intelligence & Charisma: Predatory, Darkvision, Blood-Lust, Evil Hunger

Darkvision

Due to your shadowy revival, you have superior vision in dark and dim Conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in Darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in Darkness, only shades of gray. Your eyes are naturally attuned to the night from necessity. A hunter has to see its prey, right? Well you do at least.

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest. Being a monster has some perks, doesn't it? This just so happens to be one of them.

Predatory

Due to your natural capabilities, your body has adapted to better suit your needs. Your endurance is increased, granting you +1 Constitution & +1 Dexterity. This trait does make you more savage as a result and thus lowers Charisma & Intelligence by 1 (-1 Charisma & -1 Intelligence). Run faster, jump higher, and chase prey to the ends of the Earth.

Blood-Lust

By drawing blood in combat, or smelling it in general, you can enter a frenzy, temporarily doubling your available attacks. The need to kill wells up inside, the animal within growing restless. Release it and see what happens.

Evil Hunger

As you continue to live, the need to consume, well... consumes you. Given the chance to eat raw or bloody flesh, you can decide to partake of this meal, or refuse it. If the hunger is not sated for three days, your intelligence and wisdom modifiers are: halved if positive, but doubled if negative; and your judgement grows cloudy. If the hunger is sated, and the flesh is consumed, your strength modifier is: doubled if positive, but halved if negative. Everyone has to eat... even when that means people have to eat people.

Mass Terror

By letting out a horrifying scream, make all enemies within a range of 30 feet roll an intimidation check with disadvantage. This also has a passive effect, granting you a natural mastery of intimidation with a +5 to the skill. You are to be feared, an abomination, a horror. Let them run. It makes hunting all the more enjoyable.
