Homebrew Blobfolk Species Details

You might think that being a blob would be a disadvantage, but for the blob lifestyle, it actually helps. Most of its body mass is gelatinous, and it has very few hard bones. This is an advantage in the crushing depths where it lives; by being made out of gelatinous, blobby material, the blobfolk can keep itself from being crushed due to water pressure. In fact, the blobfolk look very different when in its natural environment at the bottom of the sea—it appears much more compressed and fish-like, but still quite odd-looking, even for a fish.

Fortunately for the blobfish, they’ve adopted a way of living that allows them to survive just fine as a blob in the deep ocean. They tend to float along, just off the bottom of the sea, eating whatever happens to float right in front of them and is small enough to fit into their mouths.

Big and fat

Blobfolk are more physically changeable than other common races. An individual can stand from 6 feet to a little over 8 feet tall and weigh from 1000 to 2000 pounds. Blob skin shades range from dark pink to very pale, blobfolk do not grow hair but males might gain facial hair that is sparse or thick. Blobfolk reach adulthood in their 20s and live just over a century.

Variety in All Things

Blobfolk are adaptable and ambitious people among the rare races. They settle, though, they enjoy to live with others: they build underwater homes to last longer than they live. They can live above on land, but prefer the harsh depths of the ocean but also plan for the future.

Blobfolk get along with with members of other races. They get along with almost everyone, though they might not be close to many. Blobfolk serve as cooks, weapon smiths, merchants, and many other jobs of all kinds.

Halflings. “It’s hard to beat a meal in a halfling home, as long as you don’t crack your head on the ceiling—good food and good stories in front of a nice, warm fire. If halflings had a shred of ambition, they might really amount to something.

It’s hard to make generalizations about blobfolk but your character has these traits.

Pressure immunity

Most of the Blobfolks life is spent 3000 feet underwater, your body grants you immunity to pressure damage. 

Water breathing

Your body allows you to breath underwater. 

Ability Score Increase

 Your constitution increases by 2.

Age

Blobfolk reach adulthood at 20 and live a bit more than a century.

Alignment

Blobfolk tend toward no particular alignment. They are mostly unaligned. 

Size

Blobfolk grow to around 7 feet tall, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 20 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice.
