Homebrew Allaxhi Species Details

The Allaxhi are a quiet race of fox-like humanoids. They are scavengers and typically flee at the first sight of trouble. Rarely speaking, the Allaxhi have separated themselves from most of the world, and very rarely one might leave their home in the Fey Wild. While they have shown themselves capable of understanding language and speaking it, they usually communicate in gestures and ways that do not involve speak aloud. The Allaxhi are neutral by nature, looking out for only their close friends and family, and are wary of outsiders. However, when they do grow close to an outsider, they are one of the most loyal companions one might ask for.

Your Dexterity, Charisma, and Wisdom scores are increased by 1.

Age

Allaxhi typically live up to 60 years of age. They reach maturity by 4 years of age. 

Alignment

Allaxhi tend to mind their own business, and usually avoid trouble. They are wary of outsiders, and typically look after themselves. While there are exceptions to this rule, this means the average Allaxhi is true neutral by nature. 

Size

Allaxhi range from under 4 to over 5 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Searching for food at night has made you accustomed to seeing in the darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Scavenger

Thanks to your scavenging lifestyle, you have become adept at finding food in almost any situations.

You have advantage on Survival, Investigation, and Perception checks to find food and water, so long as they are not enclosed in another object.

Additionally, your connection to the Fey Wild has allowed your race to develop the ability to cast Goodberry at will, once per Long Rest. These berries do not benefit from class features, and lose their potency after an hour, instead of 24 hours. 

Claws

Because of your claws, you have a climbing speed of 20 feet. In addition, your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Allaxhin. Allaxhin has sharp, high-pitched pronunciations, and a sharp alphabet. No other creature can speak this language due to their lack of the correct vocal chords, but they can understand it. 

Additionally, other Allaxhi seem to know what you are communicating without you needing to speak, so long as the interpretation of your body language can be read simply. 

Life in the Wild

You gain proficiency in the Nature and Survival skills.
