Homebrew Centhera Species Details

A distant cousin of the centaur, centhera are born with the traits and lower bodies of big cats (panthera), rather than those of horses. More commonly found in the Beastlands than the Feywild, they are natural hunters, but have lost some of the traits that connect them to their Fey ancestry.

Centhera Traits

Your powerful feline anatomy grants you the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Dexterity or Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Centhera mature and age at about the same rate as humans.

Alignment

Centhera in a good mood are curious and playful, but their inability to recognize their own strength can make them a danger to others. They tend toward chaotic alignments, and are usually neutral or good.

Size

Centhera are slightly shorter than centaurs, usually standing around 6 feet tall, with their feline bodies reaching between 3 and 4 feet at the withers. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40 feet.

Darkvision

You have a cat’s keen senses, especially in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Claws

Your claws are natural melee weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike

Pounce

If you move at least 30 feet straight toward a target and then hit it with a claw attack on the same turn, you can immediately follow that attack by attempting to shove the target as a bonus action.

Feline Build

Your base jump distance increases by 5 feet.

You have a climbing speed of 15 feet as long as you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before attempting the climb. Otherwise, your humanoid form negates any special benefits your feline form would grant for climbing, and your climbing ability is treated as a bipedal creature's would be.

Hunter

You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Athletics, Perception, Stealth, or Survival.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common.
