Homebrew Corrupted Species Details

I watched as black wings covered the sky, and a dark presence whooshed overhead and landed in front of me. The "Man" stepped off his dragon and came close to me, as he moved closer I saw that the veins on his skin were a dark purple, pulsing with a dark, thick substance that must have been his blood. His body seemed human, but it was misshapen, with dark purple tendrils flowing down his arms and a large green, blinking, eyes, resting in the center of his breastplate. He walked towards me, slowly, the ground darkening at his feet, twisting and turning purple as he walked, the leaves fell off of nearby trees and eye stalks sprouted from the ground, showing unwavering, green eyes staring right at me. He came to my feet, and looked down upon me, his breath cold and his voice stern. He simply said

"Move out of my way"

I stepped aside, and he walked to my Home, and I saw him reach back for a blade, but when he unsheathed it I saw it was corrupted, tainted by a power that seemed to be controlled by him. I watched tendrils form on the blade, adding an extra 6 feet of length to the blade at least. He swung and there was a sickening boom, as he slammed the blade and tendrils on my home, but it was not destroyed, the home was upside down, and the doorway seemed to be a large maw now, covered in sharp yellow teeth.

He walked towards me, grabbed me by the shoulder, and sickening pain hit me as my skin began to turn black, and purple tendrils crept onto my face and carve into my flesh. The last words I heard before I was consumed by corruption, will be words that I will remember the rest of my life...

"You are Mine"

-Farmers Journal Found Outside an Upside Down Home

Chaos can manifest its' form in many ways. One of these forms is in a way no one thought would be possible. Corruption. Chaos can corrupt people, turning them into beings of pure destruction, calling themselves Chaorruppted. Chaorrupted can resemble any race, but they are no longer that race, and instead, are abominations, creatures made for pure chaos. Most wander the plains, corrupting everything, literally. The corruption they were created out of, is highly infectious, turning simple things into complex monstrosities. These beings are mutated, sprouting tentacles, sometimes wings, or even turning their abdomen into one large maw. Corruption works in many different ways, having many effects on the environment, even sprouting eyes from the dirt beneath their feet.

Chaorrupted has mastered their control over this corruption, at least that's what they think. In reality, the more corruption they have, the more it leeches into their mind, draining them of their sanity, and driving them to madness. Some have gained control over this, and some have failed to control this corruption, succumbing to the madness that infects them. Chaos lords appearances vary depending on how much "control" they have over chaos. They usually have eyes in strange places, tendrils on their bodies, and may have purple eyes. Green eyes may lay on their armor, and horns may be sprouting from their heads. Their teeth may be sharpened, with maws that are way bigger than they should be. They truly are beings of pure chaos, knowing only chaos, and nothing else.

Chaotic Bindings

The corruption affects a chaorrupteds' mind as he gains levels, making him fall farther from the morals he may have set out for himself. For every level gained, roll a random ability score saving throw, if failed, you gain 5% Madness Score. If succeeded, you gain none.

(Madness Score: Madness Score Affects how a Chaorrupted does anything. He may try and say something and scream instead of saying it. He may try and swing his weapon but start juggling it instead. He may try and give a hardy speech but instead break into hideous laughter. The higher the score, the higher the chances are that it may happen.

For every 5% of madness on a chaos lord, they must roll a d20 for any action taken that isn't evil or chaotic in nature. For every 5%, increase in one number on the d20, starting at 1. If the d20 rolls below that number, roll for effect on the madness chart, if above, succeed that action. If the number rolled is the number of percentiles, have the chaos lord roll a con. saving throw, if failed, roll for effect, if succeeded, the action may take place.)

{Madness Effect Chart}

1: You drop all items and begin a jig for 1 minute.

2: You turn towards your party and put on a drunken slur, yelling at them all then resuming your action with disadvantage

3: You begin to laugh hideously, all nearby living creatures must roll a con. saving throw or become frightened

4. You think your weapon is a piece of food, and attempt to ingest it. Roll con. saving throw, if succeeded, you ingest your weapon if the size allows it, and must wait until a long rest for it to "pass". If failed, you miss and hit another part of your face with the weapon, dealing weapon damage based on the weapon.

5. You lose control of the corruption, and it lashes out at everything around you, dealing 3d8 slashing damage in a 15 ft radius unless they can roll a dex. saving throw and succeed.

6. The corruption spreads further, dealing an instant 10% Madness Score

7. The eyes on your body glow a bright purple for 1 minute, forcing all nearby creatures to attack you, or aggro towards you if they weren't already

8. The Veins on your back pump harder, making your chest contract and pulsate for a minute, your walk speed goes up to double normal speed for 2 turns, then take 2d6 necrotic damage

9. Your Conscious becomes sentient, talking to you, and influencing your actions. Roll 1d4, if 1-2, your conscious influences evil actions, if 3-4, it influences good actions.

10. You lose control of the corruption, blacking out mentally, but the corruption controls your body for you for 2 hours, unable to speak, and with half normal speed, with a disadvantage on all actions. All actions will be evil, even if they are supposed to be good, the corruption will attempt to corrupt all nearby creatures, and it will corrupt your items 50% faster

Spread the Corruption

Any attacks that are done with unarmed attacks, attacks on you, or with corrupt weapons, will deal normal damage, and 1d10 "Chaos" damage.

Chaos damage is not actual damage and deals no damage, but instead is a counter for the infection, dealing with different effects at different levels. The effects are as listed below:

1-10: No viable effects of the infection

11-20: Open wounds show signs of infection, blood leaking turned blackish-purple

21-30: Tiny tendrils form in open wounds, attempting to grab at the flesh of the creature

31-40: Veins showing blood pulsate, begin to leak a black ooze, showing minor acidic effects, reducing AC by -2

41-50: The eyes of the creature turn green and they lose interest in attacking the corrupted that infected them, attacking at anything other than them

51-60: The creature's teeth grow outward, disabling all speech, and rendering them unable to bite down with them

61-70: All ability scores of the creature is reduced by -4, if any score reaches 0 they drop to their knees, begging for mercy, before dying

71-80: Spikes come out of the creature, destroying their bone structure, and reducing their movement speed to 10 feet

81-90: Eyes appear out of the skin of the creature, glowing green and disabling any magic the creature had, then extending outward to look at the creature, almost in shame, or maybe cruel pity

91-99: The creature is given 2 options:

Bow down to the corrupted that infected them, calling them master and begging for their mercy

or succumb to the infection, and die, the corrupted can then drain the life from their dying body, gaining 1d6 and a +1 to any ability score or any feat if the creature was a boss

100: Only corrupted can reach this level of chaos damage and survive, if any other creature hit this level, they die instantly, and the corruption takes control of their body
