Homebrew Aethin Species Details

As the strange creature grasped the paintbrush, its form slowly began to shift- its arms became an oak-brown shade, its long hair now coarse and bristle-like, and its previously blank face now contained two eyes, a button nose, and a mouth- all of which looked to be painted on.

Aethins are strange, fey-like creatures that take the form of an object that it particularly likes. This gives them one of almost infinite unique and intriguing appearances.

No Two are the Same

Aethins average slightly over 3 feet tall and weigh 40 to 45 pounds. Their faces (if they have one yet) are usually covered with intrigued and enthusiastic faces. 

These curious little creatures start off entirely blank-looking. They have no distinguishable faces, and have completely paper-white skin. Their only distinguishable features are the two antennae sticking out of their head, the one on their chest, and their small tail (which also resembles some form of antenna).

However, when they become particularly curious or attached to a certain object, they can take on similar traits to said item- for example, an aethin channeling a piece of armour may have metallic, hard skin that can be hard to damage. This can give them completely different appearances that vary from aethin to aethin. In fact, the only way to tell that two are the same species may be their many antennae.

 As aethins are from the Feywild, and the few that enter our plane of existence find great wonder in it. from the bustling towns to the beautiful landscapes, aethins manage to find beauty in everything this world has to offer. They rarely get bored, but still always want to discover something new.

Aethin Names

Aethins typically have short names, and are almost always one or two syllables long. They do not have surnames, but instead have nicknames that often revolve around the object they have taken the form of.

Male Names: Airan, Reith, Karii, Derin, Freid, Weyran, Lauki, Tauren

Female Names: Branni, Evera, Loaro, Zarei, Deryll, Laire, Freila 

Nicknames: Ivory, Petal, Gear, Copper, Cedar, Berry, Ruby, Hollybush

Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Wisdom by 1.

Age

Aethins mature faster than humans do, and reach adulthood around 15. They can live 200 to almost 400 years.

Alignment

Aethins are usually neutral, focusing more on  scenery and objects than people. Many tend towards chaotic alignments, too.

Size

Aethins are between 3 and 4 feet tall and average about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Ethereal Charm

Due to your fey charm and harmless, cute appearance, you can cast Charm Person as a cantrip. Charisma is your spell casting ability for this.

Fey Sight

You have advantage on all saving throws against Illusion magic and on Arcana checks.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.

Faery Origins

Because of your fey lineage, you gain resistance to radiant damage.
