Homebrew Domesticated Pygmy Harpy Species Details
The Pygmy Harpy has a few diverging features from their more commonly known relatives the most previlant being their feather covered bodies and their lack of arms. Thier wings are much larger than that of their relatives allowing for faster flight but the reduction of dexterity their upper limbs could use. Their lack of hands may be seen as a issue but if one is to look at the bends of their wings they have four small claw like apendanges that allow them to grip and manipulate objects a crude mimicry of what hands would allow. Due to their general appearance and upper body features the Pure Harpies often see them as lesser primitive beings.
Decedents of a cacophony of pygmy harpies that lived upon the Matrem peaks before the dwarves settled decades ago. The dwarves found their weakened stature and lack of a proper song to make them weaker and decided to tinker with genetics a bit. They capture the vast majority of the harpies populating the area and began a tedious process of selective breeding paring the friendlier of the group together and culling the aggressive outliers. After several generations the harpies became a lot tamer and willingly worked alongside the breeders to clean the "coops" along with other small chores. When the tamed descendants began to appear more frequently the dwarves decided that these small harpies could be a source of labor and income for them.
Now the Pygmy Harpies have become gradually smaller roughly two feet smaller than their ancestors. Their size varies even more as you look at the three main breeds Messenger being the smallest on these range in the two foot range varying a few inches above and below, they typically fly through busy cities with messages trying to get from point A to B as fast as they can. Keepers are the most popular breed standing in the middle ground in height from two feet to around two foot eight, they are typically seen cleaning and maintaining houses and stores for their masters. The largest breed is the Warhawks they are around three feet in height and some have managed to reach four feet tall, they are breed for war using their large size and strength to fight their foes usually assigned to a "WarMaster" who commands three to four Warhawks at a time.
