Homebrew Banana Species Details

Bananas are fruits. One day a crazy mage cast a spell in a banana tree and well... here they are fighting as heroes. No banana knows exactly how they came up being a society, but now they live in different tribes in tropical forests. Bananas tend to be friendly to outsiders and very curious about them.

The Yellow Fruit

When the spell animated the banana people, they grew up to about 5 feet tall and developed legs and arms. They are light, weighing about 80 pounds. Bananas don't have genders, there are no male or female bananas, just bananas.

They don't have eyes or ears, but magically they can see and hear anything. Bananas don't have any problems to see in the dark.

Maturing

Bananas live about 10 years. They reach maturity with about 3 months and they have a strange desire to explore the world in that age. With about 6 years, bananas tend to stop the exploring phase, they comeback to the village and raise a family with another banana.

New bananas are born from The Great Tree located in the center of the village. The tree grows two or three bananas a month.

Banana Power

Banana people don't have mouth. They don't need to eat and they don't need to do other physiologic stuff too. Bananas don't sleep, but they can lose focus easily, so they usually meditate at night to keep concentrated when day comes.

Without a mouth, bananas can just speak in sign languages, but strangely other races in contact with them can easily understand what they have to say.

Banana Names

Bananas don't have names, they have name signs. The sign is given to a newborn banana based on different characteristics on the baby skin. It could be little black dots on the lefft hand, or a mark on the elbow for example.

The bananas are strongly connected with nature. You know one cantrip of your choice from the druid spell list. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it.

You can choose wich gift The Great Tree has grant to your banana. Choose your Ability Score Increase.

Age

A banana typically claims adulthood around the age of 3 months and can live to be 12 years old.

Alignment

Bananas are always curious about new people. They tend to trust anybody who are gently to them, being so are a lawful, but naive people.

Size

Bananas range about 5 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Magic is strange. Banana people can hear normally and can see up to 60 feet in dim light or darkness as if it were bright light (they can't see in magical darkness though). Effects that causes blindness or deafness affect this race normally.

No Mouth

Bananas don't have mouth and they don't need to drink or eat anything

Meditation

Bananas don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate, remaining semiconscious, for 2 hours a day. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Languages

You can speak banana sign language and  can read and understand another language of your choice related to your travels in the world. The banana sign language is understandable by all other races if they can see you. Magic is weird.
