Homebrew Chromi Species Details

Chromi have always been outcasts and nomads as they hide their true forms from the surface.  Some prefer cloaks with hoods.  others masks.  But no one has seen the true identity of one except for other Chromi.  They have dark black skin with distinct glowing markings that flare up when preforming magic as well as their eyes. (the only facial feature that is ever seen)  They naturally know magic and in later years are pioneers of technology.  Many Chromi become Wizards or Artificers and sorcerers are common as it runs in the blood.  Many Chromi prefer to shy away from social interaction and seclude themselves to invent and learn.  However few have become a part of society and choose to indulge in social contact still hiding what is underneath for it believes if they see they it will reject the Chromi.  They are skinny and lanky with long fingers.

Customization and Character Creation:

The Chromi posses markings.  You choose what your markings look like and what color they glow when using different kinds of magic.  They might burn a fiery red when using a fire spell, light with a neon yellow when shooting lightning, or radiate a soft blue when casting ice.

Chromi have no real name except one given to themselves, one given by a friend, or a nickname such as "distant one"

Chromi Traits

Chromi have these traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your intelligence  increases by 2 and your wisdom increases by 2.

Innate Spellcaster

You choose two cantrips of any class to assign to your character.

Speed

Your base movement speed is 30 ft.

Size

Your size is medium.  Many Chrom grow 4 to 5.5 feet tall.

Inventor

Any technology (if it exists) the Chromi is proficient with.

Age

Chrom reach maturity around 10 and at this time leave their parents to do whatever pleases them.  Most Chrom live about 800 years.

Alignment

Most Chromi are good and depending on circumstance do they choose law or chaos.  A Chromi that lives in one of their great underground dwellings tends to be lawful while a lone nomad on the surface could be chaotic.

Darkvision

Thanks to your Chromi heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Languages

You can read, speak, and write common as well as Chromi.  Chromi is a language that sounds robotic to the untrained ear with beeps and single syllables making up a majority of speech.
