Homebrew Akradech Species Details

Since the dawn of creation, the Akradech have wandered the unending lands to a destination even they do not know. Requiring little shelter and needing only sun and water for sustenance, a group of Akradech can pick up and move at a moment’s notice without leaving a trace. They typically travel in groups of 30 or less, splitting into two groups if their numbers exceed that. Though atypical, some Akradech strike off alone, but even they do not stay in one place for too long.

Akradech Traits

With high physical flexibility and endurance and an intelligence the equal of most Chosen, the typical Akradech is highly adaptable and can take on almost any role.

Motility

Though normally humanoid in shape, Akradech can reshape their vines to take on a multitude of forms, giving limited shape-shifting ability. Akradech are effective combatants only in humanoid form.

Natural Camouflage

You blend in to plants and underbrush, giving advantage to stealth rolls in foliage.

Flammable

You are vulnerable to fire damage.

Whipping Vines

You are proficient with your unarmed strikes, which deal 1d4 slashing damage on a hit

Nomadic Weapon Training

You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and one other ability score of your choice increases by one.

Age

Akradech roughly match the average human life-cycle.

Size

Akradech are about 6 feet tall. They have thin, lightweight bodies that weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Trance

Akradech don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Akradechi as well as one other language of your choice.
