Homebrew Bunnin Species Details

Bunnin are wise beyond their years. Sought after by black market traders for the gems that grow from their foreheads, it is a wonder they've managed not to go extinct. Their large ears and nimble legs have helped them to outrun their hunters.

Large Families

Bunnin have exceptionally large families. Living in fear of extinction, they reproduce at an astounding rate. Most Bunnin have to mature quickly and learn to be responsible for their younger siblings while their parents work. It is not uncommon for upwards of ten Bunnin children to be under the same roof at one time.

Empathic Charm

Bunnin are very in tune with the emotions of those around them. Many use this to their advantage to charm others into doing favors for them, but other Bunnin consider it a curse. If one displays the slightest hint of ill-intent towards a Bunnin, they are likely to flee.

Humble Upbringings

Most Bunnin are raised without much in the way of physical belongings. Parents pride themselves on how much emotional support they provide to their family, more so than how fast they can afford fix that leak in the roof, or the squeaky front door. Because of this, many Bunnin children are teased by their peers.

Bunnin Traits

Bunnin share a number of traits in common with each other.

Mind Link

You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see, provided the creature is within a number of feet of you equal to 10 times your level. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.

When you’re using this trait to speak telepathically to a creature, you can use your action to give that creature the ability to speak telepathically with you for 1 hour or until you end this effect as an action. To use this ability, the creature must be able to see you and must be within this trait’s range. You can give this ability to only one creature at a time; giving it to a creature takes it away from another creature who has it.

Using this ability is draining. If you do so for more than a number of minutes equal to 5 times your level without a short rest, roll a D20. If you roll a 1, the gem on your forehead will crack and you will be unable to use this ability again until it is repaired.
