Homebrew Deepborn Species Details
The experimentation of the Aboleth changed the fisiology of their human ancestors, making them to have a half-aboleth and half-human appearance. These changes made them move to places far from other creatures that considered them to be cruel abominations, such as the Underdark, the depths of the ocean and sunken cities. Instead of legs, they have a caudal fin and two long pelvic tentacles strong enough to allow some movement on land. Their voice is considered to be one of the most beautiful among all the mortals and their pelvic tentacles can glow in the darkness. Their other part, the human one, is the same as other human can be, except for the presence of gills in their necks and the pale greenish colour of their skin. They usually eat fish and algae and can look like normal humans, only for a few days.
Deepborn Traits
Bioluminescence, Charming song, Amphibious, Human appearance, +2 CharismaHuman appearance
Deepborn can look like a human for a maximum of twice of their level days. While doing so, they lose their swiming speed and their walking speed increases by 10ft. They must spend at least 1 day in the water in order to use this trait again. Charming song and Bioluminescence are not available while in human form.
Bioluminescence
Deepborn's tentacles can glow with a dim light in a 40 ft radius.
Charming song
As an action the deepborn start to sing in Deep Speech for 1 minute, making a creature of their choice to make a WIS saving throw (10 + your CHA modifier). On a failed save, the creature becomes charmed for the duration. While charmed by their song, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0. The deepborn must use a bonus action each of its turns to mantain the song.
The effect ends for an affected creature if it takes any damage or if someone else uses an action to shake the creature out of its stupor.
