Homebrew Yuke Species Details
Due to the strange plane from which the Yukes are from has altered their appearance making them very odd looking to the more common races and their strange mannerisms don't help their case. In the chaotic world from which the Yukes were birthed magic is not only their greatest ally but greatest enemy. The great gifts that the Yukes were given also were given to the other monsters that inhabited it. They began leeching a poisonous gas called the Miasma which forced the Yukes to flee to another plane.
Yuke Traits
+2 Intelligence +1 Wisdom -2 Strength, -1 Dexterity, Disturbing Visage, Magical Defense, Angels of MagicSpeed
Your base walking speed is 25 feet as Yukes tend to be slower, lethargic beings.
Disturbing Visage
If the bird like Yukes were not strange enough, all Yukes have faces that can only be described as horrifying. Other Yukes find no fault with who they are but the other races disagree. If a Yuke is making any check including ability checks, saving throws that rely on Charisma and its face is not veiled or hidden it has disadvantage on the roll and if it fails it critically fails. Also a Yuke can capitalize on this during combat making friend and foe alike flee in terror. Yukes only tend to show their true faces to intimate friends and family and prefer to not have to shield their faces but do so out of common decency.
Magical Defense
Yukes had to survive in a very unforgiving world so they have developed a few techniques to help them survive. Once per long rest as a reaction when attacked a Yuke can add its INT mod to its AC as it summons magical energy to protect itself.
Angels of Magic
As Yukes are bird-like creatures they have wings but unlike birds their wings are comically small. All Yukes' wings grow as themselves grow in wisdom and Intellect. As a Yuke gets older eventually its wings get big enough to allow them to fly but this is seldom as it takes a truly enlightened Yuke to do so. Once a Yuke has reached 20 INT every time it levels up roll a d20 if it lands on a 20 your wings become big enough to allow you to fly, on a 1 your wings fall off and cannot be regrow or replaced. You can choose to not roll upon leveling up.
Languages
As dwellers of distant chaotic planes Yukes initially spoke dialects of Primordial. All Yukes can speak Common and Primordial and all the languages that branch out of Primordial such as Auran.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Strength score is reduced by 2, and your Dexterity decreases by 1.
Age
Yukes age differently compared to humans as Yukes might take between 20-100 years to reach maturity and there are Yukes a thousand years old and still in the prime of their youth. Not even Yukes know how long they live for and due to this Yukes tend to take things slow, and relaxed which can upset and annoy other races.
Alignment
Most Yukes are good and rarely choose sides when it comes to law and chaos. The older a Yuke gets the more inclined it is towards either lawful or chaotic alignments. Younger Yukes are almost always neutral and tend to observe first before making decisions making them appear indecisive.
Size
Yukes can vary between 4-7 feet tall. Smaller Yukes are counted as small creatures while taller Yukes count as Medium creatures. Yukes also have very light bodies similar to Aarakocra or Kenku but lack the dexterity of the other avian races. They weigh from around 50-130 pounds.
