Homebrew Axolorn Species Details
Axolorn are a little known race of short salamander people, often living their entire lives out in caves, not even aware of the outside world. Because of their worldview (blind as they are), they see the world as a place to make better. They are exceptionally kind to others, including their enemies and natural predators.
Now they aren't naive. They will run , hide, or attempt to defend themselves if the situation calls for it. Recently, though, word has spread through their clans that there is an empty, open space outside of their caves, and their curiosity grew to strong for them to not explore. They quickly learned the common tongue and are roaming the world, leaving it a better place than they left it, one small act of slippery kindness at a time.
Blind Survivors
These little people have gone thousands of years not needing vision in the slightest, in the deepest, darkest places in the world. They instead grew the ability to hear so precisely as to not need eyesight to "see". This, along with their ability to breath both air and water through their skin and their small stature, gives them a slight edge in noticing danger quickly and reacting accordingly.
Defending themselves is difficult with their small, almost useless teeth and claws, so they've taken up to making rudimentary weapons and learning some magics for self defense and defense of their cave dwelling homes.
Kindness Above All
Axolorn have found out that survival is easiest with family and friends, and that "paying it forward" is a fulfilling way to live in their eyes. As such most people find them endearing, noting that their cute appearance, kind demeanor, and funny accents. Most peoples take well to them, accepting them as friends into their cities and communities. But, they are somewhat nomadic, settling down for a few years in one place until wanderlust catches them and they feeling like moving on.
