Homebrew The Shaped Species Details
The Shaped were sentient plants who wished to walk among humanoids and acting on that wish persuaded druids to perform ancient magics to give them a humanoid body. Some were treants while others were plants from an enchanted forest or possibly even dryads who wished to leave the forest in which they were planted. While dryads would have the hardest time being shaped given they themselves are the physical manifestation of a plants spirit however they could bind themselves permanently within their host plant and then be shaped.
Most commonly mistaken as warforged, the Shaped come in many forms ranging in appearance. They most often resemble what ever race shaped them into humanoid form.
The Shaped Traits
The Shaped have a similar trait build to warforged but with a more druidic feel.Languages
You can speak, read, and write common and Sylvan.
Ability Score Increase.
Your Wisdom is increased by 2 and you can place 1 point into any ability.
Age.
Like warforged no one is sure how long one of the Shaped can live but many believe that it depends on what plant the were before being shaped.
Alignment.
Most Shaped are neutral but that can change based on their interactions with the humanoids they come across.
Size
The size of the Shaped depends on what race resemble the most or the plant they use to be. For example a tree that was shaped might be bigger than a bush that was shaped.
Speed
Your base walking speed is based off what race you resemble. If you resemble a small race your base speed is 25, medium is 30.
Druidic Magic
While being shaped you are imbued with druidic magic. At first level you know the shillelagh cantrip. At 3rd level you can cast entangle once per long rest. At 5th level you can cast barkskin once per long rest.
Root Sense.
While you are stationary you can root yourself as an action gaining advantage on strength rolls to avoid being pushed or knocked prone and get a tremorsense range of 15 feet.
Photosynthesis.
You don’t need to eat or sleep as long as you are in direct sunlight that day.
Tool Proficiency
You gain proficiency with wood carvers tools.
