Origin of the Mighty Mages
Abomination of the Mind Flayers
"What have we done, our ambitions has blinded us, our judgement is flawed even with all of our perfection we have fumbled, we wanted a physical specimen for our vast-intellect to deal within. What we have released may doom us all, even the outer planes, my fellow scientist of the illithids join me in death for what we did for surely the wrath of the councilmen of Ulitharid shall truly come for us all if you are reading this my fellow colleges I am long gone for even I am not a worthy meal for the Elder Brain."
-tyilitha, head scientist of Oryndoll
In a time where a rogue Council of Creed Masters where trying to create the ultimate avatar as history would past this encounter would be told through tells of service, or betrayal as the councilmen in some accounts were trying to fashion a host for the elder brain to dwell within, and other acquisitions were brought about believing the ex-appointed ulitharids where planning coup d'é·tat hoping to imprison him, this creature would house the collective energy of these treacherous councilmen they created a being that would overtime grow into a psychic entity that could challenge the Elder Brain, and even the Overgods, such as Ao around the time of -3918 DR.
the scientist of Oryndoll, a group of powerful Mind Flayers sorcerers, that genetically experimented with their illithids tadpoles and planted it within a dying Aasimar which was never an acceptable host, but a new breed of illithids tadpoles were created for ceremorphosis ones that could devour the brains of Avatar of the gods, they created, Illcytholak the Ever Moving, an unstoppable behemoth, Mind Flayer a very large and stoutly Aberration. many beings were sacrificed to make this ultimate behemoth, but an erroneous calculation made by the science council.
The creature became an immensely powerful sentient being whose psionic energy gave the husk incredible strength that which would rival many gods of the outer planes, non-of the most powerful elders of ulitharids could take down this creature it would be their very demise if left unchecked.
Illcytholak began to turn on them slaughtering hundreds of illithids, and ulitharids, the rogue councilmen in their desperation sought the aid of Ilsensine, the elder brain, their battle raged for a long time until the creature exhausted the psionic energy given to him. He fled from Ilsensine, but without leaving the elder brain badly injured this battle was witnessed by an ex-creedmaster priest, who would go on an follow the indomitable beast, so he could be worshipped instead of Ilsensin he would then start an underground temple in the name of Illcytholak.
Illcytholak the Ultimate
Self-proclaimed God
"I am not a fanatic for I have witness the mightiest among us my brothers, Ilsensine's priest have lied to you, haven't you noticed the coverup of the titanic battle that took place here in Oryndol, our so-called deity is not invincible, but I've seen the one who is, and he is worthy of our worship. Please, my brethren, join me in bliss for our champion will lead us, illithids to victory lend him your psychic energy fill him with your energies and watch as he take the material planes and give them to you for in his divine visage are ceremorphosis tadpoles that can feast on the gods and survive, now let us give thanks to our newly appointed god, illcytholak the Ever Moving."
-Aakatah, Priest of Illcytholak
Illcytholak, was a very large brute Aberration, having the appearance of a ulitharids, a doom-shape head with a shorter version of his progenitors facial tentacles hanging from the upper mouth and long pine needles appendages dangling in the back of his skull as if it was hair follicles, but the outer shell of an Umber Hulk and Chuul with wide round boulder-shape shoulders, his right-hand had massive tentacle fingers that grow in length with sharp teeth on his palm for digesting, unlike his predecessor who needs brains, Illcytholak, devoured brain, bones, and sinews which increase his physical aptitude which was the scientist biggest mistake giving him such a prestigious exoskeleton when genetically designing him, this would prevent them from telepathically controlling him. He has thick muscles not common for ulitharids he was the very definition of Mind Flayer physical perfection.
Hated among the Gods, and Titans
"How long will we stand by and let the Created One, the failure of the Far Realm, the Abomination of the illithids run amuck in our Plane of Existence for I heard the rumors of Ilsensine was powerless to defeat this false god, he is not wanted here, for he is the influencer that set off Bane's conquest for more power he was humiliated by a hybrid deity, it was insulting even for a wretch like Bane, his might, and power is growing I've seen the blood of storm giants spilled upon the mountain tops, so please, do not stand by and ignore the plea of your worshippers wanting you to do something about this menace"
-Latherun, the Aasimar
-
Illcytholak became the most hated among the gods, celestials, Qusar-deities, and Titans; challenging the most powerful beings in the universe and robbing them of their corpse; several Faerun pantheon has sought the aid of other gods-alike for assistance against the self-appointed deity, but failed in subduing the unstoppable one.
The Banished Champion
During the Times of Trouble, Illcytholak took advantage of the dethronement of hundreds of deities by Ao the Overgod, he devoured and feasted on the carcasses of the mighty Aasimar, Mind Flayers, and Celestials during the commotion of the Godswar. Ao the Overdeity got wind of what Illcytholak was doing and tried to banish him from this plane, but he defended himself while reminding the Overgod that he was faithful to his followers and was very loved.
Ao was astounded at Illcytholak might and fortitude towards cosmic, psionic, arcane magic; years of devouring celestial beings have gained him an incredible immunity. The Overdeity petition his superiors the Luminous beings, and their powers were given unto Ao, which proved to be too much even for the pseudo-god, he was sent to the far edge of the multiverse where he is given his own universe to become its Overdeity, and was forbidden to ever return to this plane, but Ao was without mercy to his followers, and allowed them a direct connection to their god by through his children at the temples of Illcytholak where they practice magic.
The children of Illcytholak
Cytholids
"For over 2000 years Illcytholak, the Ever Moving, conquested across the cosmos conquering and collecting the most powerful gods, and celestial host to be ceremorphosis created powerful children known as Cytholids are the Children of Illcytholak who share the same features as their ancestral deity and draw forth magical strength from his very visage they are blue in appearance unlike Illcytholak who is green and is 20ft tall, his children whose maximum height is 7ft, they are highly devoted to him and all gods in their eyes are false, and they have an intense hatred for Mind Flayers, Ulitharid, and Ilsensine the Elder Brain, Ao the Overgod ."
-Grandaval, Wizard historian of Daggerford
Physiology
These children where created by Illcytholak during his escapade voyaging across the multiverse, planting pods in the minds of very powerful deities like their forefather, they have a massive build and spherical size shoulders, and arms like that of tree trunks, they use their retractable finger tentacles and very razor-sharp teeth on the palm of their righthand unlike Mind Flayers they devour both brains, and bone matter, they have a dome-shaped head and ancestral face tentacles like the Mind Flayers, illithids. Most Cytholids wear tightly fitted mage robes that show off their burly build these warrior mages take great pride in their physiques.
Psions of Strength
The initial goal for the Mind Flayers was to create an insurmountable body for their race their fear of the gith began to increase which triggered the events that lead them into creating the father of Cytholids. Like IllCytholak, Cytholids cannot use long-range mental attacks but they are embodied with immense psychic force, because of the breeding of an Umber Hulk, and Chuul, which gave them an armor-like coating, but they can use other Psionic abilities that increase their physical strength several folds over, they can read the minds of other weaker beings. Not only that, Illcytholak passed on some of his traits of psychic immunity and magical resistance.
Worshippers of Might
Although very intelligent like the Mind Flayers, the Cytholids show complete reverence to physical strength a trait carried down from Illcytholak, the Ever Moving. They have a fascination with large hulking, and behemoth like creatures many of the seek ceremorphosis with large creatures, they're very prejudice towards the weak, and frail, and enjoy the company of many orcs, ogres, and giants, waiting for the right moment to assimilate which the Cytholids believe it be a blessing from Illcytholak, many of their favored species are very wary of the warrior mages since their forefather, Illcytholak, made enemies of all the gods. Most Cytholids use melee base magical spells and encourage all Cytholids citizens to only use strength-enhancing magic when in combat.
Alhoon Traditions
Sometime about 3400 DR after Illcytholak conception he adopted the teachings of Alhoon and even congregated with their priest for quite some time until he builds his own empire across the outer planes, even till this day it is forbidden for any Cytholids to attack an Alhoon as it was decreed by the Priests of Illcytholak.
Location
Cytholids, left the Oryndoll after the entrapment of their great deity by the hands of Ao, it was Alhoon mages who invited them to have refugees in their lands in the Prime Material plane where they reside at today in Telnarquel.
Sacrificial Strength
After the Banishment of Illcytholak, by the Overgods, his physical husk was left remaining in the Prime Material Plane, the priest of Cytholids took his empty visage and build a shrine, and throne for their fallen deity hoping one day he would return in his armored-shell, the Cytholids do not become Elder Brains, like the Ilithilids when they die, but they're absorbed by the Omni-Might, the Husk of Illcytholak, when the Overdeities banished him from this realm they allowed a direct link to Illcytholak through his husk. He excepts his children's offering by reanimating his husk and devouring their entire carcasses bones and all after Illcytholak is finished feeding his husk creates an oily secretion then it is rubbed all over by his children which cause their psionic and physical strength to magnify.
