Homebrew Dhampir Species Details
Discarded Love Children
Rare is the occasion when a vampire views a mortal as anything more than a meal or pawn, let alone showing one any semblance of romantic affection. When there is such an occasion, a Dhampir is often the result. More often than not, their immortal parent will refuse to acknowledge them as their offspring and leave them to be raised by the unlucky mortal they seduced. Though there are cases of dhampirs being cared for by their vampire parent, they are few and far between and the vast majority of dhampir find themselves discarded and left to fend for themselves.
Few and Beguiling
Tall and slender and with well-defined musculature, dhampirs look like statuesque humans of unearthly beauty. Their hair, eye, and skin colors resemble unnerving versions of their mortal parents; many possess a ghastly pallor, particularly in the sunlight, while those with dark complexions often have skin as dark as the night sky. And while unnerving upon first glancing at them, there is an undeniable beauty about them. While many dhampirs can pass as humans in ideal conditions, their features are inevitably more pronounced and they move with an unnaturally fluid grace. All dhampirs have elongated incisors.
Lacking the large population to call a single place home, dhampirs tend to wander the world in search of purpose. Some find a home in the seedy underworlds found in large cities, while others take comfort in the quiet countryside far from those who might look down on them. When seeking companionship, they prefer the company of tieflings and half-orcs; for they too can sympathize with the plight of being an outsider torn between two very different worlds.
