Homebrew Copperscale Kobold Species Details

Copperscale Kobolds are Chaotic-Good aligned tribal worshippers of a local Copper Dragon patron. They excel at humor, trickery, performance and conversational charisma, their entire culture shaped by their local dragon and keeping his hunger for entertainment appeased. Those who are luckiest and most talented among them strive to earn the honor of being invited as a temporary guest by their local Dragon and kept as a source of amusement for as long they can.

The most influential and capable members of the tribe are known as Priests or Priestesses, but this is a misnomer -- they are actually Draconic Bloodline Sorcerors, and are held in highest status, often sent forth from the tribal burrows to attempt meeting with the local dragon patron to bring back stories and knowledge from their lord and master. Those who fail to gain an audience often wander off into self-imposed exile out of disappointment.

Copperscale Kobold Traits

Copperscale Kobolds share much of the same traits as regular Kobolds, with some key differences.

Darkvision

Able to see well in the darkness up to 60 feet away

Grovel

Once per encounter, can use an action on your turn to beg, plead, snivel and otherwise humiliate yourself; until the end of your next turn, all of your allies gain Advantage on attack rolls made against enemies within 10 feet of you and who can see your pathetic display.

Pack Tactics

If at least one non-incapacitated ally is within 5 feet of a creature you are attacking, you gain Advantage on attack rolls against that creature.

Sunlight Sensitivity

You suffer Disadvantage on attack rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks made when you or your target are in direct sunlight.

Ability Score Increase

Copperscale Kobolds have +2 Dexterity, and +2 Charisma. Their Charisma is due to their cultural reliance on Copper Dragons.

Ability Score Decrease

Copperscales have -2 Str and -2 Int. They're small, and not the smartest.

Skill Bonuses

Due to the fact they worship Copper dragons, Copperscale Kobolds gain +2 proficiency to Persuation and Performance.
