Homebrew Banshee Species Details
Banshees are Souls bound by tragedy, and cursed with undeath. They are ghostly beings who are pale and slim figured with whipping dark hair and eyes.
Banshee Traits
Darkvision, Scream of Undead, Undeath, Spirit MagicDarkvision
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Ability Score Increase
Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 1 and your Charisma increases by 2.
Age
Age. The lost souls of the banshees are cursed to roam for 10,000 years, and if they are not put to rest prior to, they are lost to the ethereal plane to roam for eternity, never to live among mortals again.
Alignment
Alignment. Because of the banshee's erratic behavioral swings, they tend to almost always be chaotic.
Size
Size. The Banshee is a Medium sized creature. Banshees tend to be the same height they were when they were alive. They tend to be between 4 and 6 feet and average between 85 and 130 pounds
Speed
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Screams of the Dead
Screams of the Dead. As an action, you can screech at an ear and mind piercing pitch. Any creature within a 15-foot radius must make a Wisdom saving throw equal to 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus.
A creature takes 2d6 psychic damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level.
After you use your scream, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
Cursed with Undeath
Cursed with Undeath. You are cursed with undeath since your tragedy. Your creature type is both undead and humanoid.
Spirit Magic
Spirit Magic. You know the Thaumaturgy cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Dissonant Whispers spell once and need to finish a long rest before you can cast it again. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Languages
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.
Floating Fear
Floating Fear. You can float a few feet above the ground. This allows you to ignore most forms of difficult terrain. However, you can float no higher than 5 feet and when you are reduced to 0 hit points you stop hovering.
