Homebrew Alphinian Species Details

The alphinian are a very unique race when compared to all other known races. Aside from their two heads, they appear very alien. They have grey skin, depreciated noses, no ears, and very long and thin necks, limbs, fingers, and torsos with 6 fingers on each hand. They have slippery skin and catlike eyes that are often very hot colors like red or orange. However, despite their strange appearance, the alphinian are creatures with intelligence comparable to that of a god. Their two heads are very smart on their own but they are able to multitask easily and even put the two minds together to think faster, harder, and better. Both brains have their own personality that contrast one another and each alphinian has its own two personalities. However, because the two minds often oppose each other, it is rare to find an alphinian who is able to put the two together. The few that have been able to fuse their minds together are gods in living bodies and can find and learn the secrets of the universe if they so choose.

Alphinian culture is all about knowledge and finding the purpose of their own existence. Most alphinians are philosophers that travel the world in search of answers they may never find. Alphinians are known for not being content with living in the mortal plain and wanting to seek their own truths. Because they put all of their mental fortitude into philosophy and bettering themselves and the world they live in, they are quite basic when it comes to utilities. They only create what they need and thus alphinian cities are baron of personality and color, created to serve the purpose they were meant to serve and not worrying about appearance.

Alphinians do not have genders but their personalities can represent aspects of gender identities. Their clothing is often complex and intricate representing the personalities and merging of each alphinian. Alphinians were brought into the world by an unknown celestial entity and came from the water with no memory of who or what caused their creation. Alphinians can create another alphinian if their two minds can stay connected long enough to do so. Realistically, if their minds could stay that focused for long enough, they would be able to create universes.

Alphinians do not have mouths at all but instead communicate through a telepathy method and can read the minds of lower beings if the person opens up to them or if they force the alphinian forces their way in. Alphinians also don't need food but instead feed off of the thoughts of lower beings, most often animals or monsters but tend to prefer sentient thoughts even if they don't do it very often. They can levitate if the two minds focus enough.

Alphinians don't use names with each other but instead sense each others' personalities. When talking to races who do use names, they use names that will please the race most and make them seem more like the race.

Alphinian Traits

Having two brains and very delicate hands, the alphinian are wildly intelligent and excellent craftsman and casters. They often stay away from physical combat though.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence score increases by 3, your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Constitution score decreases by 2.

Age

Although an alphinian's body is born fully grown and capable, it can take around 100 years for them to be considered an adult after their brains have matured and learned. They can live for thousands of years or never die if they reach full mental merging.

Alignment

Alphinians have two alignments based on the personalities of their minds and can literally be anything as long as they oppose. However, once they reach enlightenment, they are true neutral and nothing else.

Size

Alphinians are about 7 to 8 feet tall and weigh around 150 to 200 pounds.

Levitate

Alphinians can levitate if they focus their two brains hard enough. You can fly 45 feet.

Mind Reader

Alphinians can breech the minds of others to reveal their true intentions. You can roll a Wisdom (Perception) check to see if you successfully read the mind of someone without them noticing.

Skilled Brains

Because of their two brains, alphinians are famous for their incredible ability to multitask and double their thought processes. Double the amount of proficiencies you have.

Telepathy

Alphinians do not speak but instead use their telepathic abilities to communicate. You can send mental messages and receive mental messages from up to 5 miles away though at farther distances, you'll have to make an Intelligence (Arcana) check to send and receive.

Two Heads

Because alphinians have two minds that each have their own opposing personalities and thought processes, it is recommended that one alphinian is played by two players as to make role playing easier and more consistent. It might even be better for each player of the character to have their own character sheet if they with to have multiple classes.
