Homebrew Demi-Human Species Details

When deciding to travel with a Demi-human whether you may travel with them as guides or companions, be sure to pay attention to the expressions in their eyes and their actions. When danger is afoot they will show the similar expressions in their eyes that a wild wolf may have before they attack or retreat in fear before fleeing deeper into the forest.
Knowing how to discern those expressions can mean the difference between life and death before you become prey to a tribe of hungry primal Demi-human or a victim of something much fiercer than the Demi-humans themselves.

Commonly referred to as “Beast Folk” by most the other major races of the material planes, the Demi-humans prefer to live secluded from all other humanoids. They say their existence was by the divine grace of The Wildmother, others say that The Changebringer had a hand in the creations of Demi-humans. All that is known for certain by Arcane scholars is that all Demi-humans have Fey ancestry and they have great potential in the realm, though uncertain if their existence is an ill-omen or a blessing.

Tribal Nature of the Demi-Humans

Much like any other humanoid, they spend their whole life growing together as a communally. In comparison to many of the other races of the material plain, most demi-human races tend to be inspired to emulate most of the other civilized races though they tend to stay distant from other humanoids to varying degrees. Such as settling in similar places though much preferring to co-exist with the natural environment making then harder to find compared to their Gnoll counter parts. Then there are those who live a much more nomadic lifestyle traveling and migrating throughout the land following the feral animals as the seasons change.

But not least there are the rare individuals who stray from their homes seeking adventures the world. When they do it may be in part of some coming of age, spiritual journey, a pilgrimage to gather knowledge, test their steel as a warrior or to simply experience life through the eyes of an adventurer.

Demi-Human Names

Demi-humans unlike other races are rarely named at birth, instead they are usually given child names that often are descriptive of their developing personalities or their most pronounce features that develop with age. Due to their tribal communities' Demi-humans do not have family names or surnames. Rather they will have tribe name that can be more akin to the equivalent of a family name or surname. Often that name of the tribe will be based upon or similar where the tribe resides or region that the nomads tend to frequent most.

*note
Depending on if you are playing a Demi-human or playing core D&D races that are similar to Demi-humans there will be differences such as if you decide to play such as an Aarakocra, Gnoll, Kenku, Lizard-folk, Loxodon, Minotaur, Tabaxi, and Tortle. Which have already been created by Wizards for use as official material for Dungeon & Dragons.
