Homebrew Cancer (Crab Girl) Species Details

"Snip, snip..."

The claws of a crab go as a goblin faces off against a Cancer. The claw slams down on the goblin, smashing him. She then picks up the goblin with her claws, and throws the body off the beach.

The Cancer is a monsterfolk race that can be compared to the centaur. They have a human torso as their top half, but when you look down, you will see the hard carapace of a crab shell complete with pincers and crab legs. They are not known for their dexterity, but they are well known for their hard shell, strong pincers, and resourcefulness. They make waterfronts such as beaches and riverbacks their home.

“Clean, clean, clean…”

However, due to the nature of the Cancer, they are also well known to have a compulsion for keeping everything tidy. Despite being able to communicate with the common folk and their fellow creatures of the sea, they often opt to not speak, communicating instead using gestures. Common gestures include but are not limited to: Snapping their pincers at a threat, moving in one spot restlessly when agitated, or pointing their claws in a direction to indicate something important.

Ability Score Increase

Size

Cancer sizes are generally comparable to humans', give or take a few inches. Your size is Medium.

 

Speed

Your base walking speed is 20ft, and you have both a swimming and burrowing speed of 10ft.

Claw

A pair of monstrous claws comes as part and parcel of the Cancer's body, able to tear apart armor and grip things like a vice. This acts as their natural weapon, which can't be removed without hurting them (or a genetic defect). Claw weapon attacks deal Slashing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.

You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Amphibious

You can breathe normally both in and out of water.

Natural Defense

Your Armor Class is 13 + your Dexterity modifier when not wearing armor.

Soapy Water

You open your shell some, spewing bubbly, soapy water from the opening. You are able to use a variation of the Grease spell a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once) per long rest. This can be used for tasks such as putting out fire or cleaning gear ontop of being able to cause others to slip and slide.

Languages

Cancers are able to communicate in Primordial and Common.

Tremorsense

You can sense movement within 10ft of you.
