Homebrew Calderwood Species Details

Physical Description

Calderwood have a human form, beast form, and bipedal form:

Their human form is their “true” form. In humanoid form, calderwoods appear no different than their original humanoid species. However, they can disguise themselves somewhat through their shape-shifting abilities, taking on a form almost identical to a humanoid but with subtle details revealing their true nature, such as pointed ears and tail(s).

Their beast form is a perfect reflection of the beast blood that courses through their veins except for the unusual spark of intelligence in their eyes.

In their bipedal form, calderwoods resemble their original race except with ears and tail(s). They can understand speech and speak, but it is more guttural and slow.

Calderwood Traits

Lycanthrope

Darkvision

With this race you are given darkvision. A combination of being accustomed to the night sky and the beast blood coursing through your veins, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, and during only daylight can can old see in shades your chosen animals sees.

Keen Senses

You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell in all of your forms.

Calderwood Regeneration

You heal as fast as your race origin, when injured you retain your bipedal form even during daylight hours. You are unavailable to control this even after mastering your form transformation.

Lycanthrope Fortitude

There is only enough room for one intruder in your body...and the beast will always wins. You are immune to disease. You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage.

Transformation

You can not take an action to change into your human, hybrid or beast form until practiced at 6th level. Your form is made by the moons phases. No moon and daylight you are your races origin, half moon you are bipedal and full moon you are full beast.

While in bipedal form:
Armor, clothing and possessions do not change with you.

You retain your humanoid character statistics and you can wield weapons as normal.

While in beast form:

Your statistics and armor class are replaced by the statistics of the beast, but you retain your Alignment, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies.

You cannot wear armor or wield weapons. The equipment and belongings you are wearing are dropped to the ground.

You can't cast spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands is limited to the capabilities of your beast form.

You have a 1d4 Bite and 1d6 Claw attack. On a successful claw attack, you may use your Bonus Action to make an additional claw attack on the same target. You also gain the ability to have animals of your species join the fight

Beasts of origin available: Dire Wolf, Wolf, Rat, Lion, Panther, Tiger, Lion, Hare, Fox, Kitsune or anything your DM will allow.

Feral Fight

If you try to resist on the night of the full moon, the beast within you swells. At the start of the night of a full moon, you must make a DC15 Wisdom saving throw or you will transform into a feral version of your animal form. During this time, the DM has control over what your character does; however every hour you may reroll your saving throw to take back control. Once you make the saving throw, you retain control for the rest of the night.

Imprinting

You do not control whom you imprint with but you would do anything and everything for them and would give your own life for them.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Sylvan, fey, your origin animals language and one extra language.

Ability Score Improvement

As a player character race, Calderwood receive the following racial traits.

Animal Form Calderwood have one of the following animal forms. The choice of form determines a Calderwood's second skill bonus.

cat (+2 Acrobatics)
large cat (+2 Strength)
dog (+2 Insight)
fox (+2 Stealth)
wolf (+2 Dexterity)
hare (+2 Acrobatics)
rat (+2 Thievery)

Elusive Calderwood receive a +1 racial bonus to Reflex defense.

Origin Race

Your humanoid form is a perfect reflection of your original humanoid race. However, you can disguise yourself somewhat through utilizing your shape-shifting abilities, taking on a form almost identical to your humanoid form but with subtle details revealing your true nature, such as ears and tail(s)

Your age, height, weight, and general appearance in humanoid form are determined by your origin race.

You gain no racial traits, additional benefits, or proficiencies from your origin race, as Calderwood is your race now.

Origin Races available: Drow, Dwarf, Elf, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, Gnome.

Origin animals available: Cat, Large Feral Cat, Fox/ Kitsune, Dog/ Riding Dog, Wolf/ Dire wolf, Rabbit, DM may allow other certain animals.
