Homebrew Catfolk Species Details

Catfolk are a cheery, life-loving people that can be found across the world, especially in cities and other urban areas. They prefer to avoid areas next to bodies of water.

Quick to make friends and eager to explore the mysteries around them, catfolk make natural adventurers who delight in the thrills that come with the job. More than that, though, catfolk love to partake in the spoils of their efforts, lazing about with a "Live and let live" lifestyle that lets them rest in the lap of luxury. 

Considered clever in a childish sort of way, catfolk have an affinity for play and are known to be especially attention-seeking, often taking paths that would put them in the public eye.Other races look at them with benevolence, considering them mostly harmless. Unfortunately, that same attitude breeds those who would take advantage of what some would call the catfolk's naivete. Catfolk spurned in this way can become bitter loners that are now easilly spooked, craving the warmth they now fear to seek.

Age

Catfolk have lifespans equivalent to a humans.

Ability Score Increase

You gain +2 Dexterity, to a maximum of 20, and +1 Charisma, to a maximum of 20.

Alignment

Catfolk tend towards chaotic alignments, letting impulse and fancy guide their decisions. They are rarely evil, with most of them being driven by curiosity rather than greed or other dark impulses.

Size

Catfolk range from under 5 feet tall to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is medium.

Catnap

You can take a short rest in only 10 minutes, as long as you drink milk or take it in a spot of direct sunlight. Once done, you must finish a long rest to use this trait again.

Feline Flexibility

You have advantage on saving throws or checks against being knocked prone.

Naturally Graceful

While unarmored or wearing light armor, you take half damage from falling.

Cute Cat

Your adorable ways charm even the coldest hearts. You have proficiency in Persuasion.

Playful Puma

Thanks to your exhibitionist and whimsical nature, you have proficiency in the Performance skill.

Nine Lives

As a reaction, you can turn a critical hit scored against you into a normal hit. Once you use this trait you must complete a long rest to use it again.

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
