Homebrew Awakened Skeleton Species Details

Long dead and turned to nothing but bones, you are raised and start your life as an undead. You could of regained yourself through some ritual, act of wild magic, or magics like revivify was cast on you after being slain as an undead.

Awakened Skeleton Traits

Your awakened skeleton character has the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Undead Nature

You were raised from the dead with remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:

  • You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.
  • You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You are immune to disease.
  • You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
  • Your creature type is undead

Darkvision

You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Undead Rest

When you take a long rest, you must spend at least four hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear as a normal pile of bones.

Knowledge of Your Past Life

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. You also have proficiency in one tool and one skill of your choice. Awakened skeletons typically regain some memories of their past life and often regain abilities from their life.

Rattling Bones

Your new form has little protection against brunt force attacks. If a creature attacks you with an attack that deals bludgeoning damage, the attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
