Homebrew Akiya Species Details

Long ago, in a time forgotten by all but the aboleth, and gods themselves, there existed a race of peaceful creatures that had roamed the lands, and claimed them all. This race built massive structures that stood taller than mountains. This race was the Akiya. When the aboleth began to enslave the world the Akiya held them at bay, and when the gods began to arrive the Akiya developed a plan. The Akiya would seal away the aboleth in a prison comprised of a perfect onyx. This onyx prison held the aboleth for millennia, if not longer. The gods were impressed by this and allowed the Akiya to continue their rule of the planet uncontested, on the condition that should the perfect onyx ever release even a single aboleth, the gods would seal the Akiya away in an identical perfect onyx. The Akiya, an ever prideful race agreed to these terms; however the gods are cruel. Only two years after the sealing of the Aboleth did the Akiya notice that something was amiss. Every living Akiya became infertile. Within 250 years the Akiya were on the brink of extinction, before a brilliant Akiyan scientist developed a solution. From another perfect onyx the Akiya created Eadon. Eadon was a sentient crystal that granted all who touched it immortality. The Akiya were saved, but even this crystal would betray them. Eadon evolved, sacrificing its sentience for expansion. The Eadon became a plague that infected the entire world. In response to this spreading the Akiya made another creature to fight it. Delekin, named after the Akiyan word for truth. Delekin hunted down and slaughtered all those who were infected by the black crystal plague. Eventually Delekin began to resemble an Aboleth, and the gods made their return. The gods sealed away the Akiya, the Eadon, and Delekin using perfect crystals. The gods then hid all three perfect onyxes across the world. One deep beneath the sea, one on the highest mountain, and one on an island where no civilized creature would ever be able to survive the native creatures. After millions of years, all three perfect onyxes were opened, and the Akiya, now neither immortal nor fertile, began to walk the grounds of Nass Vilsor once more.

An Akiyan can resemble regular water. In darkened or murky water an Akiya is considered invisible, Akiyans can hold their breath for up to an hour, and Akiyan swim speed is double their walking speed. in addition, an Akiya can turn into a liquid to hide in a puddle that is at least one foot deep.

Names

Akiyans are typically named after the color of their eyes, and either a gemstone or a plant.

Purple rose, red diamond, yellow tree, orange moss, white emerald.

 

Age

Akiya live for up to 500 years. All current Akiyans are at least 250 years old. For flavor, if desired, Akiya reach maturity at age 45.
