Homebrew Yuan-Ti Malison Species Details

This is a slightly altered version of the Yuan-Ti player class for the Malison type. I’ve debuffed it slightly because level 1 magic resistance is insane, but added another ability to balance it out. This only covers those with a humanoid upper body and snake-like lower body (I know there are other forms but the new ability I’ve added only really works with a serpentine body).

Yuan-Ti Malison Traits

The following traits are those of the Yuan-Ti Malison player class.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Age

Yuan-Ti mature at the same rate as humans and have lifespans similar in length to theirs.

Alignment

Yuan-Ti tend to be devoid of emotion and see others as tools to manipulate. They care little for law or chaos and are typically neutral evil.

Size

Yuan-Ti Malisons (besides the full length of their tail) tend to match humans in average size and weight. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Innate Spellcasting

You know the poison spray cantrip. You can cast animal friendship an unlimited number of times with this trait, but you can target only snakes with it. Starting at 3rd level, you can also cast suggestion with this trait. Once you cast it, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Mild Magic Resistance

You can choose to give yourself advantage on a saving throw against a spell or magical effect, even after rolling the save. You can do this once per short or long rest.

Poison Resistance

You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage.

Coil

When you have a medium or smaller creature grappled, you can use your action to deal 1d8+strength modifier bludgeoning damage to them. On the same turn you can attack as a bonus action if using a weapon that can be dual wielded. If attacking a grappled enemy, you have advantage.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Abyssal, and Draconic.
