Homebrew Awakened Lizard Species Details

A lizard has been given sapience through magic. Now, they wander the world, seeking to fill their tiny, scaly life with adventure. Lizards may be awakened by a bard or a druid, or someone with knowledge of their magic.

Awakened Lizard Traits

Your size, speed, and beady little eyes help you navigate the world in a unique way.

Age

The magics which have awakened you give you a lifespan comparable to that of a human. However, you mature from egg to adulthood at the same rate as a regular lizard.

Size

The exact size of any lizard varies depending on their species, from a few inches to up to two feet. You are a Tiny creature.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 20 feet. You can also easily scale vertical walls, and your base climbing speed is 20 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write one language that the person who awakened you knew. This is usually Common, but you can pick something else if you want to make life difficult.

Bite

Nomp. Take out your li'l chompers and bite down for 1d4 piercing damage.

Littol Creacher

Lizards aren't the strongest or toughest, but they are the cutest. Well, to some, anyway. Most people find you gross or creepy, or even just goofy-looking, but a few think you're downright adorable. Use your reptilian charm to turn the tide in a conversation with someone who thinks a lizard in a little hat is just the most precious thing they've ever seen. Your STR and CHA values drop by 6. With a CHA roll, you can check to tell if someone you can see likes lizards. The check can be made once per person on as many people as desired. Upon success, add 6 to all CHA rolls against that person. You also have disadvantage on intimidation rolls against that person. Upon failure, you gain advantage on intimidation rolls against that person.

Slippery Bastard

You're a tiny, speedy little lizard who's hard to get a hold of. Your DEX score rises by 3. Grapple checks against you are always rolled at disadvantage.

Animal Solidarity

You used to be a regular, dumb lizard yourself, and you haven't forgotten what you learned then. You gain proficiency with animal handling, and you can speak with and understand animals. Animals have no inherent opinion of lizards, so checking if an animal likes lizards has no effect on your CHA rolls against them. Add 3 to every CHA roll made against an animal.
