Homebrew Wartouched Human Species Details
Wartouched are the result of lone creators attempting to emulate a Warforged by melding metal with the body of a human being. They are ominous creations. The process of creating a Wartouched is extremely difficult and often horrific, and the results vary from monstrous and terrifying to admirable for their precision of craft. The making of one is far from sanctioned, so to keep their creation clandestine is usually crucial for their creators. Some creators, toiling alone and hiding their work, only ever manage to create a single successful Wartouched. Others, working in secretive laboratories or factories, produced many, to be sold to similarly underground operations such as criminal guilds and gangs. Some of those who made Wartouched saw their creations as figures of beauty, power, and achievement, while others feared the war machines they created. The exact composition of a Wartouched varies dramatically, as every one is essentially unique. Some are even recognizably human, their alterations well hidden beneath flesh, only traces of metal augmentation visible, while others look far more machine than man, covered in brawny plates of steel and bristling with unhidden weaponry. All, however, are sentient beings; they are an unaltered human mind in a body taken apart and rebuilt over and over again.
Wartouched Human Traits
Surviving the process of being shaped into a creature of metal and muscle leaves Wartouched with certain defining characteristics that all Wartouched, despite their notable diversity, ultimately share.Ability Score Increase
Being surgically and alchemically crafted into a Wartouched means greater physical strength and hardiness. As a Wartouched, your Strength and Constitution scores both increase by 1.
Age
Information about Wartouched is so limited and well-hidden that the way the modification process affects the lifespan or aging process of a Wartouched is unknown. It is generally presumed they age at a human rate, but this is nothing more than a conjecture. Most Wartouched are created during their physical prime, around 20-30 years old. Some are rumored to be ageless after their creation; other tales tell of Wartouched reaching a physical decline at a much younger age than expected.
Size
Wartouched are often approximately the same height as they were as a human before being altered. However, some creators choose to augment the height of their Wartouched, enlarging their stature up to 6 and a half feet tall, and rarely even greater. Those that are made substantially taller are often those Wartouched that are more visibly machinelike, as alterations of this type are much harder to conceal. All Wartouched are proportionally much heavier than a human of the same height would be due to the weight of their metal components, regularly weighing 300 pounds or more.

As a Wartouched, you can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Speed
Wartouched have a base walking speed of 35 feet.
Augmented Resilience
The process of being warped into a being as mechanical as alive makes Wartouched resilient against many of the hardships that humans suffer acutely. Wartouched are resistant to poison damage and acid damage. In addition, Wartouched gain advantage in saving throws against the following conditions:
- Being poisoned
- Being afflicted by a disease
- Being exhausted
- Being suffocated
Furthermore, Wartouched have a decreased need for sleep; as a result, short rests provide the same benefits as long rests.
Unarmored Defense
The metal parts integrated into a Wartouched's body provide a layer of natural defense against attack. As a Wartouched, your base armor class while unarmored is equal to 13 plus your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).
Living Body Wartouched
Some Wartouched are created from human beings that are alive while they are being formed into Wartouched. For these individuals, the process of altering the body is like a series of surgeries. As a result, these Wartouched may experience the boundary between their lives as a human and as a Wartouched as being blurred, or even nonexistent. One life simply flowed into another.
When creating a Living Body Wartouched, consider what the experience of being created into a Wartouched did to your character. Did they choose to be modified in this way, or was it something imposed upon them? How do they view the person or people that made them a Wartouched-- do they see them as an artisan, a savior, or perhaps a mad scientist or even a torturer? Why did their creator make them into a Wartouched; what was their intended purpose? Was the modification process traumatic? Was it difficult to adjust to their new body?
Ability Score Increase
Living Body Wartouched have retained some degree of bodily integrity throughout their modification process; regardless of how intensely their bodies have been changed, they have never been completely disassembled and put back together. As a result, their motor skills are often more refined than those of Resurrected Wartouched, whose bodies are often fundamentally reconstructed. As a Living Body Wartouched, your Dexterity score is increased by 1.
Agile
As a result of the nimbleness that results from their generally-better bodily integration, Living Body Wartouched are faster. Your speed increases by 5.
Resurrected Wartouched
While some humans go through the transformative process while they are still alive, this is not the origin of all Wartouched. Others were created through a more morbid means. Resurrected Wartouched are those whose human components come from a dead body-- or dead bodies. For these Wartouched, their sentience is a result of strong necromantic magic; their creators are skilled in profane arcana.
When creating a Resurrected Wartouched character, consider the nature of their construction from dead parts. Was your Wartouched created from a single corpse, or were parts of theirs replaced by pieces from other bodies? Before their death, were they connected to the person that made them into a Wartouched, or if not, why did their creator choose their body to use? Do they remember any of their life before death? Are they grateful for their second chance at life, or do they see it as an unnatural burden imposed on them?
Ability Score Increase
Resurrected Wartouched are fearsome creations, with an imposing countenance and a gruesome life story. As a result, they are often gifted with a forceful personality, and many find it easy to intimidate others. As a Resurrected Wartouched, your Charisma score increases by 1.
Unnatural Life
Creating a living, sentient being from a corpse requires an abundance of strong necromantic magic. As a result of the strange life force magic running through them, Resurrected Wartouched are resistant to Necrotic damage.
