Homebrew Asheborn Species Details
Ash whips in the wind, choking the lungs, glass storms rage and flay those caught to the bone, the ash wastes are brutal and unforgiving for those unprepared. They are not however, deserted, as those who wander in such a land are made of ash, born of it, molded by the conditions into survivors of the harshest weather, and deadliest beasts. Their skin the color of fresh fallen snow, their bodies are large and imposing like basalt rock monoliths they tower over other race's.
Faithful Survivors
The Ashelands are a place of constant trial both for the Enclave and the individuals that make up its whole. Everyone within an Enclave is expected to contribute in some way.
Thusly Asheborn are singularly driven to achieve great deed for the Enclave and their own status, with each great deed being commemorated with ceremonial tattoos that mark the great deed. Those who achieve enough glory are often given positions of greater importance basted upon their personal glory and honor, but this isn't the only motivator for Asheborn as they are deeply faithful and believe in a ladder of reincarnation.
This dedication to glory and spiritual reincarnation means that many will stop at nothing to be the best they can possible be.
Honor of the Wastes
Asheborn tolerate no leaches upon the belly of their society, any caught cheating or taking advantage of others or the Enclave, will be expelled out into the wastes where they will most likely die. This does not mean that they that they expel those injured or sick, as to send a dying man to an untimely death is seen as dishonorable and inglorious.
A permanently injured Asheborn are expected to undergo The Rite of Last Breath where they seek the one to kill them often trying to make their end as glorious as possible.
Due to the nature of the Ashelands good leaders are rare as many die seeking further glory, leaving the Enclave without a wise Jarl to guide them. This means that Asheborn society value wisdom and the hardiness to survive the harsh environment.
