Homebrew Darkling Species Details

Darklings are creatures of the dark and are similar to demons but with no obligation to evil. In other words, they feel the need to commit evil acts but can resist them. They are created by any malicious, harmful, or evil act that causes immense emotional, mental, or physical pain to the one that did the wrong. This person and this creation are called the Darkling's origin. They are born of the wrongdoer's shadow. After their origin, they tend to find somewhere secluded to haunt and scare. Their personality and therefore the acts they commit are often based on the act of their origin. They have many deep-seated trust issues and are often shunned due to their origin. While this can begin loneliness, resentment, and violence towards humankind, many already harbour those feelings, once again due to their origin. Others are often indifferent to mankind. Darklings each have a unique power that stems from their origin. While some are weaker and more playful and tricky, others are downright despicable and their powers reflect that.
